Making it a priority to take time alone every day to pray, meditate, read, listen, and/or journal can make a world of difference in your day and in your life. Committing to any of these disciplines It will help your outlook on life, give you strength, encourage you, center you and ground you before you face the day.
Talk to God throughout the day about things big or small. James 5:16 states “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” Praying to God throughout our day as a trusted friend is a wonderful way to cultivate and reconnect our relationship with Him.
Your relationship with God grows in three ways through your time with Him: 1) A Father/child relationship is developed. 2) The fruit of God's Spirit is cultivated. 3) Your daily life will become a reflection of God Himself.
Give the Sacrifice God Wants. “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased” (Hebrews 13:15-16).
Sometimes God is silent because we aren't ready for the message. He wants to talk to us about something, but we aren't ready. We have to go through refining trials to make us ready to listen. God is sometimes silent because He knows we aren't willing to obey.
The Lord has made all things ready. He has provided in abundance all things that pertain unto life and godliness (II Peter 1:3). Therefore, when we take time to be in His presence, He bestows abundant salvation, healing, deliverance, holiness and power. He saturates our lives with heavenly blessings.
Reading and studying the Bible, spending time in prayer, and talking with other followers of Jesus are not just part of our to-do list. God encourages us to do these things because they help us to learn about His character and learn to recognize His voice.
God has a long history of speaking directly to humans. In Scripture — Old and New Testaments — you will see God has made it a priority to communicate directly with us over the centuries. If you love someone, you find every opportunity to communicate — it's no different for God.
Our Father in heaven, how we love you; how you love us. A new day unfolds, and we desire that it is infused with our worship of you. As we turn our eyes on the beauty of you, so our spirits lift and find peace. Please pour out your Spirit upon us today, so that we can worship in fresh ways.
Father God, we praise you for the Holy Spirit who grants us wisdom, fills us with life, guards our hearts, and illuminates our mind to comprehend the good news of Jesus Christ. Let us settle for nothing less than the pure unadulterated truth that you have revealed to us in your Holy Word.
Lord, may nothing separate me from You today. Teach me how to choose only Your way today so each step will lead me closer to You. Help me walk by the Word and not my feelings. Help me to keep my heart pure and undivided.
What does a healthy relationship with God look like?
God wants to hear from you, and He is always available to listen. He wants to hear about your day, he wants to hear what you are grateful for, and He wants to hear how He can help you. Gordon B. Hinckley said, “Never assume that you can make it alone.
When we realize that God is speaking to us, it will definitely encourage our faith. But, we are also greatly encouraged in our faith when we share what we have learned from Him with others. So, spending time with other believers, sharing our finds and listening to theirs, will also greatly encourage our faith.
