Coming clean with God is one of the best ways to surrender. God cares about honesty; he doesn't play the shame game. As Jesus shows us in Mark, he values openness.
Confessing our feelings to God is not weakness. Instead, when we do so, we admit our need for Him and allow Him to be as honest with us as we are with Him. With that, we declare that God is greater than the control our emotions have over us. And by allowing God to be the strength in our weakness, we are glorifying God.
Prayer for letting go and letting God
Help me to let go of my fears and worries and to trust in Your divine plan for my life. Teach me to have faith in Your love and grace, and to know that You are always there to guide me through even the darkest of times by the Holy Spirit.
Lord, I kneel before You in humble submission and pray that in Your mercy and kindness You would help me to simply let go of all the fears and worries, problems and doubts, guilt and disappointments that seem to be filling my heart and mind so often, during the course of a day.
One sign that is very clear that God is telling you to move on is if the relationship is unbiblical or it is consistently causing you to sin. Sometimes we over complicate knowing the will of God for our lives. When it comes to matters clearly explained in the Bible, we do not need to wonder what God is saying.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. -Proverbs 3:5-6. Surrendering and submitting to God's plan will involve releasing our control and trusting that He knows the right paths to lead us on.
Go Before Me Prayer
Everlasting Lord, You are my peace in times of hardships; you are the rock I take refuge in. Go before me and make rough places smooth. Be my guide. I know that during such situations, my faith is put to test and I am glad that my trust is in you.
Psalm 147:3
The Bible says the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and heals the brokenhearted. So, not only will God provide comfort as you move on from a past relationship, but He'll actually help you do it. God will help you heal from the wounds caused by the relationship and move forward in life and love.
Jesus' example of total surrender can help you surrender your anxieties over to God. Every day, you can offer up your worries to God in prayer. Hand them over to him and trust him to take care of those matters. Do this as many times as needed to surrender to God, and you'll experience God's perfect peace.
As we surrender to the Lordship of Christ, He begins to teach us how to love God deeper, love others and look after their well-being and live out His Kingdom on earth. No matter what we've done, said or believed, once we turn our life over to Christ, His blood has us covered.
Truth is, God gave us emotions as a good gift to be appreciated and employed in every aspect of our lives. He wants us to glorify him with our feelings—in fact, we can't honor and obey him without our feelings! Far from being bad and unreliable, feelings are actually central to our loving and serving God.
In 1 Peter 5:7, we are told to “Cast your cares (anxiety) upon him, for he cares for you.” This scripture helps us to know we can give our worries over to God. It helps us to realize that God does indeed care for us always.
When we give, we will have all we need. And God will generously provide all you need. When we prioritize the things that are important to God, he takes care of the rest. God always makes sure we have enough to live on when we give to further his kingdom.
Instead, the Psalmist calls us to repay the Lord by taking the cup of salvation and calling on the name of the Lord. Which means calling on God's name to be saved from his judgment, then continuing to call on his name for the power to keep serving him.
Lord, We humble ourselves before you and confess that we often go our own way instead of consulting you on our plans. And sometimes we feel stuck, as a result. Thank you for your grace and mercy towards us, to give us wisdom and understanding in how to avoid adding unnecessary layers to our lives.
Holy Spirit, help those who are defeated, fatigued, or sad to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one. Holy, Holy, Holy are You, the Lord of hosts the whole earth is full of Your glory. You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. You are the God who is, who was, and who is to come.
God allows us to struggle and fail to bring humility and realization we need Him in our lives all day, every day. Sometimes it is hard to see and understand why a loving God allows us to struggle and experience hardship, but it is because of His love for us and His desire to bring us closer to Him he allows it.
Isaiah 40:28-31
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.
26 Because God will be right there with you; he'll keep you safe and sound. 27 Never walk away from someone who deserves help; your hand is God's hand for that person.
Galatians 6:9 – Do Not Grow Weary In Doing Good
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. This is the first verse I turn to when I feel like giving up.
If you feel abandoned by God, do not feel ashamed. Like the Psalmist, we can call out, “But you, Lord, do not be far from me” (Psalm 22:19). We can lean on God's promise to never leave us or to forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6).
Read His Word Aloud
God speaks to us through His Word. And one of the best ways to sense His presence is to get into His Word and ask His Holy Spirit to guide you into a better understanding of it. When you get into God's Word, and even speak it audibly, you will sense its power and His presence.
