To turn the volume up or down, place your thumb on the stem of either AirPod and use your index finger to swipe up or down on the Touch control.
If there's low volume in one AirPod
Check the microphone and speaker mesh on each AirPod. If you see any debris, clean your AirPods using the guidelines in this article, and see if that fixes the issue. Go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual > Balance, and make sure that the balance is set in the middle.
Select Digital Crown, then choose an option. On Mac: Choose Apple menu > System Settings, then click the name of your AirPods Max in the sidebar (you may need to scroll down). On the right, select an option next to “Increase volume by rotating Digital Crown.”
You can control your AirPods with a double tap at the top of the stem. For example, when you get an incoming call, double-tap to answer.
Alternatively, you can go to Settings > AirPods. Tap the More Info button next to your AirPods in the list of devices. Under Press and Hold AirPods, tap Left or Right, then make sure that Noise Control is selected. Select the two or three noise control modes that you want to use with press and hold.
To connect to other devices, press and hold the setup button on the back of the AirPods case for about five seconds, or until the status light flashes white.
The setup button has two primary functions. First, this allows you to reset your AirPods to create a new, and possibly better, connection with your audio source. Second, this button can also activate manual pairing, which is very useful when you're trying to connect to a non-iOS device.
Unpair and Pair the AirPods Again
Sometimes, unpairing the AirPods from your iPhone and pairing them back can help fix simple issues like these. Give it a shot to see if it fixes the issue with AirPods gestures not working on your earbuds.
Check Your Device Settings
For Android users, you can adjust the volume limit in the 'Sound' settings menu. This should allow for music louder playback without having to worry about damaging your ears or blowing out your headphones.
Open the Settings app and navigate to Accessibility > AirPods. Once here, scroll down until you see a volume slider under the "Tone Volume" section. While the name is somewhat confusing, this slider controls the volume of notifications on your AirPods.
To turn the volume up or down, say "Hey Siri," then say something like "Turn up the volume" or "Turn down the volume." Or drag the volume slider in the app that you're listening to, on the Lock Screen, or in Control Center.
Go to Settings > Sounds (or Settings > Sounds & Haptics), and drag the Ringer and Alerts slider back and forth a few times. If you don't hear any sound, or if your speaker button on the Ringer and Alerts slider is dimmed, your speaker might need service.
Make sure the device's headphone jack is firmly connected and not misaligned. Its looseness may result in audio issues. Use a soft cloth to wipe the headphone jack and plug on your headphones and gadgets. The audio quality will suffer if any debris or wax is obstructing the connection.
Go to Settings > Bluetooth, then tap the Info button next to the name of your AirPods. Scroll down to the About section to find the firmware version. To use your Mac to check that your AirPods are up to date, make sure that you have the latest version of macOS.
To charge your AirPods, put them in your case. Your case holds multiple, full charges for your AirPods, so you can charge on the go. To keep your AirPods charged, put them in the case when you're not using them.
Your AirPods will give you up to 6 hours of listening time or up to 4.5 hours of talk time on a single charge. However, the battery life differs between models and depends on the volume, use of features, and many other factors. For example, Apple rests its battery life claims on tests performed at 50% volume.
Flashing amber/orange light: Your AirPods are experiencing a pairing error. No light: Either they are not in use or have run out of battery. Connect with your device to verify the status.
Using a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe, 75 percent ethyl alcohol wipe, or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the exterior surfaces of your AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, or EarPods. Don't use on the speaker mesh of your AirPods, AirPods Pro, and EarPods.
