An Image in an HTML Email. Using an image in an HTML email to see if your email has been opened is more reliable than read receipts and delivery receipts – and they don't need the recipient to approve the receipt.
Outlook keeps track of your delivery and read receipts. To view that information, open your sent items, and double-click a message. Then, click Tracking. And you can see when the receipts arrived in your inbox, and the recipient names.
A delivery receipt tells you that your e-mail message was delivered to the recipient's mailbox, but not whether the recipient has seen it or read it. A read receipt tells you that your message has been opened. In both cases, you receive a message notification when your message is delivered or read.
On an iPhone, Apple's Messages app lets you know if your recipient has read your message — but the sender and recipient must be using iMessages on an iPhone or iPad, too, and have read receipts enabled. To turn this on, open Settings, tap Messages and enable Send Read Receipts by flipping the switch so it is green.
Mailtrack for Gmail
Mailtrack is a simple email tracker that tells you if the emails you sent have been opened or not. The app adds two check marks to your Gmail account. A single check mark implies the email was sent, while the double check mark indicates that it was opened.
Usually e-mails are delivered instantly (within seconds) to the recipients.
Apple's system doesn't reveal anything about when you read a message as a result—only that a message was received. Protect Mail Activity severs loading remote content in email from your location and from the time at which you opened the message.
Depending on the email software being used, an emailer may be able to indicate to the reader that a message is of high priority by marking it with a red exclamation point or other urgent-looking symbol.
If you are replying to emails within the Preview pane of your Outlook inbox, the Track Email button is not displayed and your default Employee Email tracking settings are applied. If your default setting is not to track your outgoing emails, these replies will not be tracked.
A delivered text message status does not necessarily mean that the recipient reads the message. It simply means that the message was received by their device and is stored in their memory. The recipient may still choose not to read or open the message, even though it has been delivered successfully.
E-mails should rarely take extended times from sender to recipient, but should be expected from time to time. If this issue is common or persists and the majority of e-mails are taking longer than 15 minutes to complete delivery there may be an issue and should be reported.
- Read-time has gone up by 21 percent. The average time that a recipient spends reading an email increased to 13.4 seconds in 2018, up from 11.1 seconds in 2016.
Fifty percent of responses are sent within two hours, and according to one study, the most common email response time is two minutes. Other research has found similar numbers.
If another user enabled read receipts, you would receive feedback such as “Sent,” “Delivered,” and “Read,” as shown below. Read receipts can be disabled within the Chat settings in Messages. If someone has read receipts disabled, the feedback won't appear next to the messages.
"Delivered" means the message has been successfully received by the person's iPhone, but not necessarily that it has been opened. If Read Receipts are on, it will show the time the message was read. If Read Receipts are off, it will say "Delivered" regardless if they have read it or not.
Read receipts help set boundaries around a conversation. If you've read it, it can be assumed that if the text requires a response, it'll be coming shortly.
The recipient blocked your phone number
If the recipient blocks your phone number from contacting them, your message won't be delivered. If you don't see a 'Delivered' or 'Read' notification, this is a likely explanation.
If the text message says delivered, that just means that it made it to its destination safely. If the recipient hasn't opened it, then it wouldn't show as “read”. There would be no indicator on your end that you were blocked.
When it doesn't say Delivered, it means the other person is texting someone else or on the phone. Once they stop texting or hang up the phone, you will see the text message has been delivered.
The Tracking button is located at the top of the window on the Meeting tab next to Appointment and Scheduling Assistant. Note that the Tracking button will not be visible unless you are the meeting organizer.
