According to the Scriptures, these gifts include such ministries as faith, healing, prophecy, proclamation, teaching, administration, reconciliation, compassion, and self-sacrificing service and charity for the help and encouragement of people.
Wisdom is the first and highest gift of the Holy Spirit, because it is the perfection of faith. Through wisdom, we come to value properly those things which we believe through faith.

Whatever beauty God has bestowed on us is not a gift to us; it is a gift to others. Our stewardship of that measure of handsomeness or beauty we were given is not selfish; it is generous.
Faith is graciously given to believers by God himself. As a divine gift, faith is neither transient nor impotent. It has an abiding quality that guarantees that it will endure to the end. The familiar words of Habakkuk 2:4, “The righteous will live by his faith” (cf.
“Faith” (1 Cor 12:9) “Gifts of healing” (1 Cor 12:9, 28) “Working of miracles” (1 Cor 12:10, 28) “Distinguish between spirits” (1 Cor 12:10)
Because our Heavenly Father loves us, He gives us many gifts. In John 3:16, we read about a most precious gift: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
In the history of salvation”, the Pontiff continued, God gave three gifts to his people: “the gift of election, the gift of promise and the gift of covenant”.

The Holy Spirit is the final gift, the gift of God's own life within us, justifying us, sanctifying us, filling our hearts with love, a love “welling up to eternal life” (John 4:14).
The idea of speaking in tongues is mentioned in the Bible in 1 Corinthians:12 as a spiritual gift that a baptized person who has accepted Christ could receive from God and the Holy Spirit. This gift allows a person to speak a foreign language they otherwise have no knowledge of.
