Wrap string or paper around the base of your finger. Mark the point where the ends meet with a pen. Measure the string or paper with a ruler (mm) then divide by 3.14 (or Pi) to get the diameter of the ring. Pick the closest measurement on the ring size chart to find your ring size.
If you already have a ring in the right size measure the distance between the inside of the upper edge and the inside of the lower edge. This will give you the distance in millimeters or inches. Print a chart and check what is the size of the ring in numbers. For example 2.34 inches or 59.5 mm is a size 9.
You can easily determine your own ring size with a measuring tape or a cord. To measure simply place the cord (or the measuring tape) around the finger where you want to put the ring. The ends of the cord should be marked. Use a ruler to measure the cord and determine your ring size in mm.

Grab a small string of some kind and lightly wrap it around the base of her finger. When you pull it away, mark the length of the string with a piece of tape or marker. Take it the jeweler when you go to pick out the ring and you'll be pretty close to the perfect size.
For women the most common ring size in Australia is an N or O. For men it is a T or U. These are the equivalent of a US 7 for women and a US 10 for men. Before you can actually make use of your knowledge of Australian ring sizes you will need to know how to measure your ring size.
Remember, it's definitely better to size a ring up if you're unsure. A ring that's too large is easier to adjust than a ring that's too small. No ring will be perfect but strive for the best fitting ring that you can. The closer you can get to your accurate size, the better off you'll be.
The average women's ring size is 6 and the average men's ring size is 8½ Guessing your partner's ring size correctly can be done with a little common sense. If you have a petite partner, it's likely that their hands are smaller with slender fingers, so try starting at a size 4 or 4½ for women, and around a 7 for men.
The truth: shoe sizes and ring sizes have no connection to each other – any similarities are pure lucky coincidence.
The most common ring sizes for women are 6 (16.5 mm), 6.5 (16.9mm), and 7 (17.3 mm), while the most common men's sizes are 10 (19.8mm), 10.5 (20.2 mm), and 11 (20.6 mm).
Simply put one of your partner's rings on your finger and remember (or mark) where it stops. A jeweler can measure that part of your finger and get a good estimate of the size of that ring. Each finger is typically a different size, so make sure to use a ring that your partner actually wears on the ring finger.
Tell her that you just learned a "fun fact" and you want to try it out: Take your shoe size and divide it by two and add three, and it will sum up to your ring finger size.
After years, fingers and/or knuckles usually get bigger. It's best to have your ring resized while you can still take it off.
If you're between sizes, it's usually best to size up rather than down, as it's easier to adjust a ring that's too big than one that's too small. You may even go back and forth between two sizes; for example, your hands can swell up on hot days, making your ring size slightly larger.
When in doubt, go up a size. It's much easier to resize a ring to make it smaller than the other way around. A size up may also be better if you live in a warm environment as heat can cause your fingers to swell.
To make your ring smaller using sizing beads, a jeweler simply adds two small metal balls on the back part of the inside of your ring. Sizing beads are an economical way to reduce the size of your ring. They're perfect for reducing a ring by one half-size and they're great for keeping your ring upright on your finger.
