Restart the computer
Whether the black screen issue began before or after login, you should first try to restart the computer. Sometimes all it takes is a simple reboot to get the system back on track. If you can't restart the computer the normal way, try to access the power button by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete.
Typically, a black screen could result from a compatibility issue with a graphics driver update installed through Windows Update or manually. Other times, it could be the case that the driver got corrupted for unknown reasons. To reinstall the graphics driver while in safe mode, use these steps: Open Start.
You can get a blank or black computer screen on startup, while updating software, or in the middle of device usage. Sometimes you can resolve a black screen on Windows 10 or 11 by rebooting your device. But in serious cases, you may need to perform a system restore or reinstall the operating system (OS).
No Display on Boot: Possible Causes
The primary reason you get no display on your PC could be damaged or loosely connected cables. Other reasons may include incorrect display configuration, faulty or problematic GPU or RAM, incorrect BIOS configuration, faulty peripheral devices, or damaged PSU (Power Supply Unit).
To wake up a computer or the monitor from sleep, standby, or hibernate, move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard. If this does not work, press the power button to wake up the computer.
One of the main causes for this issue is a corrupt system file preventing the operating system from loading, resulting in a black or blank screen. Restart Windows to see if it's a temporary issue and resolves itself with a reboot. If the problem persists, erase your hard drive and reinstall Windows.
On the Windows sign-in screen, press and hold the Shift key while you select Power > Restart .
To reset your PC, go to Start > Settings > System > Recovery . Next to Reset this PC , select Reset PC.

After the computer restarts, a list of options appears. Select 4 or F4 to start the computer in Safe Mode. If you must use the Internet, select 5 or F5 for Safe Mode with Networking.
From the Windows Desktop:
Select Start, Power, and then press and hold Shift key while clicking Restart. Select Start, Settings, Update, and Security, Recovery. Under Advanced startup, click Restart now.
Select Start > Settings . Select Personalization > Colors. In the list for Choose your mode, select Custom. In the list for Choose your default Windows mode, select Light or Dark.
To do this, press Windows key + Ctrl + Shift + B. This command actually restarts your graphics driver—which might itself fix the black screen—but also emits a beep. If you hear a beep, then Windows is responsive.
No display or black screen on the laptop may be due to peripherals connected to the device. Typically, no display can also be a reason for an update, and you should wait a few moments. Still, if it takes a lengthy period, it might suggest a hardware compatibility issue.
Go to the Power Option and change the sleep mode settings to "Never" in relation to the options "Turn off hard disk" and "Sleep after". Tap on "Power buttons and lid". Finish off by changing it to sleep. You can also roll back the drivers.
