Via meditation or spiritual practice one can find God within oneself. Seeing oneself as a little Christ or Buddha affirms that one is sacred, and worthy of self-love and self-respect. This self-image is incongruent with violence to the self, such as substance misuse.
God speaks to us through His Word. And one of the best ways to sense His presence is to get into His Word and ask His Holy Spirit to guide you into a better understanding of it. When you get into God's Word, and even speak it audibly, you will sense its power and His presence.
We seek God first by remembering that our approval comes from Him. We accept what Jesus did on the cross for us, and we put Him first when we seek to live out the calling He has for us. We say yes to God above and before anything else. He is the answer to everything that matters in this life and for eternity.
When Jesus gave His life for us on that cross, when God prioritized our salvation above everything else, it wasn't for us to make Him a side thought. But for us to surrender our lives to Him and embrace the one He has for us. This is how we seek God with our whole heart. By living for Him alone.
Spend focused time in prayer. The most obvious answer to the question, “How can I know God's will for my life?” is to ask Him. Turn to God in prayer and ask Him what He wants you to do. God wants you to go through the process of seeking His will without believing the lie that He is trying to hide it from you.
God's presence can be felt in different ways. If you've ever been in a group of people who are praying, sometimes it feels like there is a large, comforting, presence in the room, other than that of the people you are with. Sometimes you sense that same presence in church, as I said above.
They are things like the Resurrection, the Eucharist, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. All of those signs were verified by many witnesses and written in the Scriptures to be passed on through the generations.
Instead, Micah listed out the three principles of what God asks of His people: to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with Him.
New Testament accounts
"Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?" He said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. ' This is the greatest and first commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
The great promise to those who seek the Lord is that he will be found. “If you seek him, he will be found by you” (1 Chronicles 28:9). And when he is found, there is great reward. “Whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him” (Hebrews 11:6).
When we trust God and believe His word, it pleases His heart. It is really that simple. Enoch was a man that pleased God. Heb 11:5 “By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: 'He could not be found, because God had taken him away.
You will draw closer to God the more often you pray throughout the day. By identifying prayer prompts, you will be reminded to pray throughout the day. Eventually, you may find yourself naturally going to God in prayer and thanksgiving.
Stay Connected to God by Praying
Tell Him what is on your mind. Tell Him your concerns. Ask for what you need and even what you want. Pray for the needs of others.
The greatest way to create and maintain a relationship with anyone, including God, is through communication, and we use prayer to communicate with God. God wants to hear from you, and He is always available to listen.
Throughout human history, God has initiated communication with humanity by speaking audibly to humans. He also speaks to us through the glory of His creation. Additionally, He speaks to us through His Holy Spirit and through dreams, visions and our thoughts.
