Researchers now believe that when a baby is ready for life outside his mother's uterus, his body releases a tiny amount of a substance that signals the mother's hormones to begin labor (Condon, Jeyasuria, Faust, & Mendelson, 2004). In most cases, your labor will begin only when both your body and your baby are ready.
They're tired of being pregnant or want to avoid medical inductions or C-sections, for example; or perhaps they simply want to deliver on a particular day. (A note of caution: Doctors do not recommend trying to self-induce labor before 39 weeks, because the fetus's brain is still developing.)

8 Symptoms Before Labor Starts
While there is no way to know when labor is 24 to 48 hours away, labor signs include a bloody show, Braxton Hicks contractions, labor contractions, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, lower back pain, rupture of the amniotic sac (“water breaking”), and nesting instinct.

An induction massage can help in releasing your sacrum and pelvic area so that more space is created for your baby to come down into your pelvis. This is very important for easier child delivery. The massage can stimulate the release of specific hormones that causes labor.
If a woman is performing self-massage, she may wish to place her fingertips just outside the areola, then massage inward toward the nipple. It is best to massage the nipple gently, in a rolling motion. Massaging one breast at a time to avoid overstimulation. Limiting the duration of the massage.
There are some significant risks involved with breaking your own water, including that your baby might not be ready for delivery. Vital fetal development happens even in the last weeks and days of pregnancy. Additionally, putting a foreign object in the amniotic sac can harm the fetus or cause infection.
Some of these suggestions are probably harmless, although ineffective. Others can be dangerous. One method for inducing labor that frequently shows up is taking a hot bath. Unfortunately, this is one that could be dangerous for pregnant women.
Side Lying
Since it is gravity-neutral, it may work to slow down your labor or birth. It can also be used for taking pressure off the perineum and lowering the risk of perineal trauma. This position may be used in conjunction with epidural anesthesia or other medications.
Sitting position
You can sit on a birthing ball, a chair, the toilet seat, or any other chair which allows you to sit and open your legs a bit. This position is relaxing and should be the first one that you try.
You might notice an increase in vaginal discharge that's clear, pink or slightly bloody. This might happen several days before labor begins or at the start of labor. However, if you have vaginal bleeding that is as heavy as a typical menstrual period, contact your health care provider immediately.
