When you text someone with Read Receipts turned on, you'll notice the word “Read” beneath your message, and the time it was opened. To turn on your Read Receipts in the iMessage app, click Settings, scroll down, and tap Messages. Enable Send Read Receipts. These steps work with Macs and iPads as well.
A delivered text message status does not necessarily mean that the recipient reads the message. It simply means that the message was received by their device and is stored in their memory. The recipient may still choose not to read or open the message, even though it has been delivered successfully.
How can you tell if someone has read your text without read receipts? Two blue check marks mean the message has been read. You can press and hold the message to see what time it was read if you really need to. If the two check marks stay gray, the recipient may have turned read receipts off.
Alternatively, you can turn airplane mode on by using your finger to swipe down from the top of the screen to open the quick settings menu, and you can find many options there, including the Airplane Mode. Both Android and iOS can use this method. The Layout depends on which version of the device you are using.
If the person who you sent a message to has their read receipts enabled, then they will automatically send a read receipt when they open the message. Some people don't have receipts enabled, and it's usually pretty easy to tell.
If it's green, it's an ordinary text message and doesn't offer the read/delivered receipts. iMessage only works when you're sending messages to other iPhone users using the Messages app.
If you haven't been blocked, the status will read "Delivered." And if the person has enabled read receipts, it will later turn to "Read" once they open the message. A red flag that you've been blocked is when you don't see the delivery status or the read receipt at all.
If an Android user has blocked you, Lavelle says, “your text messages will go through as usual; they just won't be delivered to the Android user.” It's the same as an iPhone, but without the “delivered” notification (or lack thereof) to clue you in.
When a message is “read”, that means the recipient is ACTIVELY looking at the message (not just in Preview), and indicates attentiveness. By switching that option off, she's telling you that she doesn't want you to know if she has or has not read the message.
A single check mark means the message has been sent to the recipient. Two check marks, on the other hand, means the message has been delivered. Read messages also display two check marks, but unlike the check marks for delivered messages that are housed in white or empty circles, these are housed in colored circles.
Read receipts help set boundaries around a conversation. If you've read it, it can be assumed that if the text requires a response, it'll be coming shortly.
It means that the message was not sent to their phone. When it doesn't say Delivered, it means the other person is texting someone else or on the phone. Once they stop texting or hang up the phone, you will see the text message has been delivered.
Send the person a message to see if they respond.
When you send someone a simple check-in text, and they don't respond for a few days, it might mean they don't want to talk to you.
If the recipient blocks your phone number from contacting them, your message won't be delivered. If you don't see a 'Delivered' or 'Read' notification, this is a likely explanation.
If a small “delivered” icon appears next to the message you sent, then it has been successfully delivered. Additionally, you may see two check marks which indicate that your message has also been read by its recipient.
Android users may determine if someone has blocked their number by checking notifications. If the “sent” icon changes to “delivered,” the receiver is likely not blocked you. On the other hand, if it stays on “sent,” there's a good chance they have blocked your number.
Your text message is flagged as spam or contains illegal content or send to the wrong number or landline. The recipient is experiencing signal issues or switched off their mobile or phone number is roaming and many more.
Android phones move all blocked messages into a folder on the phone called “Spam and Blocked.” That means that the phone is still collecting messages from the blocked people; they just aren't notifying you.
Perhaps the most simple is the best one: use a different phone to call the person who blocked you. Phones can't block people as there's no way for them to know who is on the other end of the line. All they can do is block specific numbers.
Check your call log in your phone settings – If the call from the blocked contact did not go through, it may still appear in your log as an attempted call. 2. Review voicemails – If the contact left a voicemail, it may appear in your inbox even if their number was blocked.
If the iMessage never shows a “Delivered” or “Read” message, and it's still blue, then you may have been blocked – but not always.
Green texts, on the other hand, move text around the world over a basic cellular signal, like a flip phone of yore. What this means is that if you've exceeded your phone plan's data limit, or you're out of range of LTE or Wi-Fi, iMessage won't work. Your phone will likely resend the text as a green bubble SMS.
A green text message on your iPhone isn't a sign that your phone number was blocked, or that the text was not delivered. Instead, it means that the message was sent as a standard SMS message rather than an iMessage, which will appear as blue.
He could simply be busy or have intended to respond to your text but never got time for it. or, He could be worried that if he starts the texting conversation then he'll end up having to go back and forth with you all day.
