One of the key signs of neglect in a relationship is when a woman breaks down and cries when discussing issues with her partner. If she is crying when she talks about her feelings of being ignored or unappreciated, she has reached a point where she feels entirely neglected, as if she has to beg for affection.
Signs of Childhood Emotional Neglect

There's No Emotional Connection

Research shows severe neglect disrupts young children's cognitive and executive functions, stress response systems, and brain architectures. Lack of trust
With an emotionally unreliable mother or one who is combative or hypercritical, the daughter learns that relationships are unstable and dangerous, and that trust is ephemeral and can't be relied on. Unloved daughters have trouble trusting in all relationships but especially friendship.
Some symptoms of childhood emotional neglect:
You have a hard time knowing what you feel. You believe that there is something wrong with you. You feel hollow or empty inside. You feel disconnected from those you should feel close to.
If you need him more than he is comfortable with, you are too needy to him. You would not be considered too needy to someone who enjoys or appreciates being needed to that extent. If he is dismissive or neglectful of your emotions, he is emotionally neglectful to you.

Physical neglect is by far the most common type of neglect. In most cases, the parent or caregiver is not providing the child with all of the basic necessities like food, clothing and shelter. In some cases, young children are left without proper supervision for extended periods of time.
Common causes for breakups include personality differences, lack of time spent together, infidelity, lack of positive interactions between the couple, low sexual satisfaction, and low overall relationship satisfaction. Ending a relationship is one of the most difficult things we have to do.
Red flags in a relationship include excessive jealousy and frequent lying. You should also be wary of a partner who frequently criticizes you or puts you down. Another major red flag is an unwillingness to compromise — relationships shouldn't be one-sided.
