Applying your silicone scar sheet while it is damp can interfere with its ability to adhere to the skin and form a seamless layer over the scar. The easiest way to prevent this is by leaving the sheeting out to dry and storing it in a resealable plastic bag when it is not in use.
All of these silicone products help hypertrophic scars flatten and lose their redness faster than untreated scars. Silicone sheets and silicone tape should be applied constantly for at least 3- 4 months.
Clean and dry the skin thoroughly before applying the sheet. Please build up the wearing time of Scarban carefully, so your skin can get used to the silicone. For best results, it is important to use Scarban silicone sheets on the scar for at least twelve consecutive hours, every day. Maximum 20 hours.

Both products are highly effective and both very popular. That said, in our experience a higher number of patients seem to prefer the silicone gel over the sheeting for its overall ease of use.

Silicone gel sheeting
The gel sheeting is reusable and should only be used on clean, dry, healed skin. Remove the plastic backing from the gel sheet and put the sticky side over the scar. The sheet should be held in place with a pressure garment, Tubigrip or surgical tape.
You may begin using silicone gel/sheeting as soon as the skin is fully closed, after any sutures have been removed (typically 4-6 weeks after your procedure). Do not use it on an open wound.
The scar should be completely dry and perfectly healed (usually about 3 weeks after injury assuming a well-healed scar). Ask your physician before you start silicone. You cannot use silicone on an open incision or an incision that is too recently healed.

Silicone restores that hydration, locking the moisture in that your body would otherwise lose naturally. And because scar tissue is vulnerable to hyperpigmentation from the sun's UV rays, silicone gels and sheets shade the scar so it doesn't darken.
Silicone gel sheeting is thought to be an optimal option in the treatment of keloid scars. It can be used on healing skin to help soften and flatten a keloid scar.
Scarban silicone sheets (both Elastic and Light) also protect scars from sunlight, which is crucial for damaged skin. Even when it's cloudy, the sun's UV rays are powerful enough to easily penetrate your skin and cause damage.
