Reinforce the door frame
The best way to do this is to add a layer of steel to prevent the door frame from splitting. The steel should be placed over the door jamb, the flat surface that runs vertically up either side of the door frame and which houses the strike plate.
These longer screws will go all they way through the studs that frame in your door, making it much harder to kick in. That will definitely help. 2. If you really want to make it secure, consider adding a a longer metal plate.
