The medicine should start to work straight away but it may take several days to kill all the worms. It's important to take the medicine as a pharmacist or doctor tells you.
Take one tablet twice daily (i.e. morning and evening) for three consecutive days. Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose depending on the type of worm infection. If anyone takes too many Vermox Tablets, contact a doctor or your nearest Accident & Emergency department taking this leaflet and pack with you.
Mebendazole is best taken with meals, especially fatty ones (eg, meals that include whole milk or ice cream). This helps to clear up the infection by helping your body absorb the medicine better.
To treat pinworms, adults and children greater than 2 years old should take 1 tablet on the first day, then 1 tablet 2 weeks later and a third tablet 4 weeks after the first tablet. The first dose will get rid of the worms, but not the eggs that the worm may have left behind.
After giving your puppy deworming medication, the adult worms will release their grip on the intestines as they die and are eliminated through your dog's poop. You may see dead or dying adult worms in the poop or around your puppy's anus.
Stomach/abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, or drowsiness may occur. If any of these effects last or get worse, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
You may take this medicine with or without food. Chew it completely before swallowing. Do not swallow the tablet whole. If you have trouble chewing the tablet, place it in a spoon and add 2 to 3 mL of drinking water by using a dosing syringe.
Taking an extra dose of mebendazole is unlikely to harm you. However, you may get side effects such as: stomach cramps. feeling or being sick (nausea or vomiting)
Modern dewormers do not require the user to be on an empty stomach before deworming, so users can deworm at any time, but the best time is to drink early in the morning on an empty stomach or drink after dinner about 2 hours .
Threadworm Infection
Adults and children over 2 years old: Take one tablet. Repeat after 2-4 weeks. If symptoms are still present a few days after taking the dose, consult your doctor.
Once you have dewormed your puppy, you'll probably want to know how long your dog will continue to poop worms. Puppies will typically poop worms for 2-3 days after they have been dewormed.
However, deworming treatment can have some mild side effects such as - dizziness, nausea, headache, and vomiting.

Some paralyse and kill the worms; in which case you may see worms in your dog's poop. Other wormers kill and sometimes break up the worms, so you may not see whole worms in your dog's faeces.
Pinworm infections are contagious. The worms get into the body when people swallow the tiny pinworm eggs. The eggs can be on contaminated hands, under fingernails, and on things people touch a lot, such as: clothing, bed linens, and towels.

Can you eat after taking deworming medicine? You do not have to follow a special diet after taking a deworming medicine. You can have regular meals after taking medicines.
Medication kills the worms but not their eggs, which can survive for two weeks. Therefore, you also need strict hygiene measures for two weeks after taking medication to prevent you from swallowing eggs which may cause a new infection.
