It's okay to hurt and it's okay to tell someone they hurt you. You want to honor your feelings knowing it's natural and normal to feel hurt and angry too! Remember to respect yourself!
Agree to disagree. Respond in a way that defends your belief and deliver it in a respectful tone. Let the person know that their behavior or words upset you. If they continue, ask them to stop, and then move on.
When someone hurts you with their words or actions, you may feel angry, sad, embarrassed, shocked, or everything all at once. The actions you take and how you control your emotions after the fact may define the effectiveness of resolving the conflict or dealing with the situation.
Avoid blaming the person for how you feel. Instead, express what you're feeling by using “I” instead of "you." Explain the issue in an objective way. This will be less likely to put the person on the defensive. For example, you might say, “I felt hurt that I didn't get a call to tell me you couldn't make it yesterday.”
There can be many root causes for rudeness, such as insecurity or fear. People are often rude after being on the receiving end of rudeness. Researchers have found that “just like the common cold, common negative behaviors can spread easily and have significant consequences.” In other words… Rude is contagious!
Disrespect is all about not showing respect. Actually, it's about showing the opposite of respect, by acting rude, impolite, and offensive. Talking back to your teacher is showing disrespect for her authority. Not giving up your seat to an elderly person is an act of disrespect.
Never tolerate disrespect or disrespectful people. Disrespect is speaking and behaving in a way that shows no regard for people, laws, customs, social norms or even societal politics. Don't be disrespectful.
For example, cutting people off as they speak, dismissing ideas without listening to them, facial expressions that express contempt and even eye rolling. Disrespect is communicated in all of these subtle, nonverbal ways (and more). It doesn't take words and it can be just as damaging.

Try disarming them with kindness.
If someone is being disrespectful or rude, responding with kindness can take them by surprise and encourage them to rethink their behavior. Instead of getting upset or retaliating, try deescalating the situation with a smile and a few kind words.

Sadists and psychopaths. Someone who gets pleasure from hurting or humiliating others is a sadist. Sadists feel other people's pain more than is normal. And they enjoy it.
Don't let a rude person cause you to respond with more of the same hurtful thing. One of the best ways to defuse rude and negative behavior is to stay friendly and positive. This gives the other person a chance to calm down and adjust their behavior to match yours.
