Real Jade has a color ranging from forest green to natural milky green with intertwining white swirls inside and outside the stone. Fake ones are usually solid in color and come in a deep shade of green.
Although nephrite jade is commonly used for genuine jade rollers, more often than not if it's under $20 it's probably going to be a fake. If it's made of serpentine, Xiuyan jade, new jade, Australian jade, Malaysian jade, or mountain jade, it's fake. There are only 2 types of jade: jadeite and nephrite.
Jade, or jade simulants, are the more popular facial rollers seen on Instagram and YouTube but rollers can be made of other stones, such as amethyst or rose quartz. (And don't worry about the legitimacy of those stones. Harvard gemologist Alonso-Perez says they are likely authentic.).
Color – Real jade is a naturally dark green or light green stone with natural pattern varieties like white swirls and black dots. If a roller doesn't have the color or imperfections, it's a fake. Fragility – Jade is easily broken if dropped, while fake marble is not.
Pulling your skin downwards with a roller might cause your skin to sag with gravity and look just like a French Bulldog over time. Always work against the gravity with your jade roller on your face and forehead. The exception is when working on both sides of your neck.
If it's under $20, it's probably not real jade.
Cheaper stone, like marble, serpentine, or quartz, will drive the price down. If you bought a cheap jade roller, it doesn't mean it's worthless! You can still use the roller for its cooling, soothing properties (especially if you pop it in the fridge first).
Just as it can push those deeper into the skin, it can also push dirt and makeup in too. I know I said jade rollers are easy to clean, and they are, but you do have to clean them correctly. Despite many articles saying the contrary, jade is a porous material which means it can harbor bacteria.
The visual distinguishing features to look for in this type of jadeite are tiny brownish-yellow or black inclusions hidden near outlines of carvings or prong settings (if it is set into a ring or pendant). These dark-coloured imperfections can be omitted from the jade if the lapidary carver cuts around them.
For jadeite, the intensity of the green color, combined with a high degree of translucency are the key factors in judging value. Stones which are too dark in color or not so translucent are less highly valued.
Though it may be an often overlooked step, cleaning your jade roller properly will help it maintain its structure and energy. Cleaning it regularly also increases the effectiveness of this small-but-mighty product by removing excess oils, dirt and dust, and product buildup from serum and masks.
Sometimes they're green, sometimes they're pink, sometimes they're purple. You'll find that the color doesn't matter. At its core, it's a piece of jade or some other crystal-y stone that is fitted to roll around a fixed pole as you push it around on your face.
Can Jade Rollers Really Sculpt Your Face and Jawline? No—aside from being slightly de-puffing and enjoyable to use, jade rollers unfortunately don't make a difference in the tightness of the skin of sharpness of the jawline. "The muscles in the face will drop with age. It's just a reality," says Rouleau.
Jade rollers are safe to use daily and for every skin type. But Dr. Sperling does note that they can spread bacteria and infection if they aren't properly cleaned. Jade rollers also won't help with inflammatory skin conditions like eczema or rosacea.
Jade is one of the widely traded semi- precious stones in the world and is also widely duped. A Jaded roller (LOL). Looks like this is dyed Marble. Jade is quite easy to dupe using various stones like Serpentine, Feldspar, Quartz, and even Marble, but there is only one Jade stone when it comes to quality.
