How do you wash your face after blepharoplasty? Before washing your face, you should wash your hands thoroughly with warm and antibacterial soap. You should avoid contaminating the eyelid with water. You can use gauze, a washcloth or wipes to gently wash your face, below your eyelids.
3-7 days after: Eyes can begin being washed gently with water and soap.
You may gently wash below your eyes with wipes or a soft washcloth. You can use dry shampoo for your hair. Once you can take full showers, you can wash your eyelids and shampoo your hair with mild products, such as baby shampoo.
You can resume washing your face the day after your surgery while being careful to not touch your eye. It is recommended that you do not splash water directly on your face, rather use a washcloth to carefully clean your face.
4. You may shower the day after your surgery. This can be accomplished by avoiding the direct spray of water in your face. Baby shampoo is preferred because it is gentle on your eyes.
Avoid activities that raise your blood pressure, including bending, lifting and rigorous sports. Keep activities to a minimum for 3-5 days; avoid strenuous activities for 2-3 weeks. Read or watch television after 2-3 days. Return to work in 10-14 days.
I tell my patients to avoid aggressively rubbing their eye for 6 weeks after ptosis repair. This gives the muscle time to completely heal so that there is no chance of doing any damage.
Swelling typically appears shortly after surgery, peaks two to four days after the procedure, and then slowly subsides over the next few days. Some residual swelling may remain for several weeks, but this is typically minor and shouldn't interfere greatly with social commitments.
Use cold compresses
You can expect to have swelling and bruising that's similar to having a black eye for a week or two after eyelid surgery. Use cold compresses or ice packs to ease the swelling. On the day of surgery, place an ice pack over the surgical area for about 10 minutes every hour.
You can shower or wash your hair the day after surgery. Keep water, soap, shampoo, hair spray, and shaving lotion out of your eye, especially for the first week. Do not rub or put pressure on your eye for at least 2 weeks.
Typically, we recommend that patients use artificial tears liberally throughout the day and administer a soothing ointment just before bedtime. To reduce initial swelling and inflammation, apply cold compresses to the eyes in 20-minute increments.
Answer: Elevate head after eyelids
Usually swelling is gone or nearly gone in 3-4 weeks. You should be able to stop elevating your head now; it's probably not doing any good by this time. Warm compresses may be helpful.
It takes around six weeks for the area to fully recover and for you to see the full results of the procedure. From the day of surgery, you can expect to see an ongoing improvement to the eye contour as it heals and settles.

Post surgical swelling of the eyelids always cause the eyes to appear more closed in the early post op phase. As the swelling subsides, they return to a more pleasing and youthful appearance.
Especially for the first 48 hours after surgery, you should ice as much as possible while you're awake. Doing so will help ease discomfort and bring down your swelling. The rule of thumb is to ice for 20 minutes, and then take a ten minute break.
Your eyelids will probably look puffy after surgery. The incisions will probably look red, too. The swelling and bruising involved with blepharoplasty recovery tend to resemble a black eye. That is all normal.
It should take about a week before the dissolvable stitches begin to disappear. The sutures will not feel irritating or rough, and will be easier to manage after they start to disappear. Patients generally do not feel any unusual sensations in their eyes as these stitches dissolve.
Reduce caffeine and carbonated drink intake in the first few days. You should abstain from alcohol during the first week following surgery.
Full blepharoplasty recovery time typically takes about 3 months but you can expect to get back to your normal routine after 2-3 weeks of healing. Below, check out a general guide on what you should expect for your overall timeframe.
After each cleaning please apply the ophthalmic (eye) antibiotic ointment (that you receive in recovery room after surgery) to the upper and lower eye lid incisions to help soften crusts for 6 days.

Dry Eye and Itchy Eyes After Surgery
To deal with itchiness of the eyelids, patients are often given a medicated moisturizing ointment to place on their eyelids. For dry eye or eye irritation, patients can use lubricating eye drops to help ease the discomfort.
