Later in the year, McGonagall duelled with Death Eater Alecto Carrow during the Battle in the Astronomy Tower and later learned of Snape's murder of Dumbledore. McGonagall was initially appointed as Headmistress, but was demoted after Voldemort took control of the school and placed Snape as Headmaster.
After the war ended, she was awarded the Order of Merlin by Minister for Magic Kingsley Shacklebolt due to her loyalty to the Order of the Phoenix. Once the school overcame the destruction, McGonagall returned to her position as Headmistress of Hogwarts and stayed in the role until at least the 2020-21 school year.
McGonagall's favourite students were the Marauders, especially James and Sirius. Although she got annoyed with their pranks, she secretly loved their brilliance and always stood up for them.
Harry was therefore again placed under the watchful eye and care of McGonagall. Though Minerva often maintained her strict persona in regards to the boy, she wasn't above bending the rules for him on occasion, such as when she caught him flying on a broomstick without proper supervision.
Harry watched Hagrid getting redder and redder in the face as he called for more wine, finally kissing Professor McGonagall on the cheek, who, to Harry's amazement, giggled and blushed, her top hat lop-sided.
Professor McGonagall is a Death Eater
According to the theory, McGonagall's seeming disregard for Harry Potter's safety, her talent for transfiguration, and and her stoic nature all point to the fact that she was a Death Eater.
Harry also happened to be Snape's least favorite student.
Dumbledore also said that Voldemort was probably the most brilliant student Hogwarts has ever seen. Although Voldemort remains highly accomplished and prodigious in skill, he is enormously lacking and highly inept in the most powerful magic, love.
If at full capacity, defending everything she held dear, the new Headmistress McGonagall was unable to defeat Snape. It suggested the latter was the more powerful professor.
He didnt want to hurt professor mcgonagall because he was one of the good guys after all but he couldnt blow his cover with Voldemort either. Snape, is the greatest and more complex character of the story and without him (and Allan Rickman) the story would pretty much fall apart.
Professor McGonagall considered Harry to be lucky not to have been expelled for such an act, and she full-heartedly supported the detentions, while Pansy Parkinson wasted no time in vilifying Harry. Harry Potter was punished if you would read the book.
Pursuing, McGonagall screams, "Coward!" Uncloaked, Harry and Luna rush inside, startling the other professors. Snape has leaped out the window. Harry thinks he must be dead, but McGonagall bitterly comments that, unlike Dumbledore, Snape had a wand and has learned a few tricks from "You-Know-Who".
Draco had several reasons for lying to Bellatrix, including the fact that he was never a bad person. Moreover, he no longer found working for the Dark Lord appealing and hated how Voldemort treated his family. He did not intend to harm anyone and believed Harry was the only person capable of defeating Voldemort.
“You disgust me,” said Dumbledore, and Harry had never heard so much contempt in his voice. Snape seemed to shrink a little, “You do not care, then, about the deaths of her husband and child? They can die, as long as you have what you want?” Snape said nothing, but merely looked up at Dumbledore.
There's no question that Hermione was one of the best and fiercest characters in the Harry Potter franchise. With an abundance of wit and intelligence, she always proved to be a vital asset in everything, and needless to say, Harry, Ron, and the entire wizarding world would have struggled to survive without her.
So Snape was cruel, biased towards his house, and downright rude to his students: this we can't deny. Calling poor Hermione an 'insufferable know-it-all', for example, was pretty terrible.
Neville Professor Snape Neville fears Professor Snape who treats him rudely with sarcastic comments. Neville seems afraid of this harsh treatment that makes him feel inferior constantly. Parvati Blood-stained, bandaged mummy Parvati is afraid of something that is scary to her, possibly because it can harm her.
Despite her rejection of him when they were kids, Snape remained loyal to Lily and out of his undying love for her and became the most essential player in the game to take down the Dark Lord. Risking his life countless times, his loyalty to Dumbledore never wavered.
Weaknesses. McGonagall is never portrayed as having any particular weaknesses. Her stern facade likely prevents anyone from getting close to her emotionally, with the possible exception of Dumbledore. We are led to believe that she prefers her solitude.
Snape was then chased by McGonagall, Sprout, and Flitwick into a nearby classroom, jumped through a window and flew away, a skill he presumably learnt from Lord Voldemort. Minerva contemptuously called Snape a "coward".
The Ministry saw the Order as a renegade outfit — ministers were still cagey about Dumbledore possibly wanting their job — so it wouldn't be possible for McGonagall to work for both the Ministry and the Order.
