She is Jamie Fraser's stepdaughter (by his embittered second wife, Laoghaire), and she's the dedicated wife of Jamie's brothel-born adopted son, Fergus Fraser.
Surprise! Jamie also has two step-daughters, Marsali MacKimmie Fraser and Joan MacKimmie. They became his step-daughters when he married their mother, Laoghaire MacKenzie. If that name sounds familiar, it's because Laoghaire is the same woman who orchestrates Claire being put on trial for witchcraft.
When Claire returns to Scotland in the 17th century, she eventually becomes stepmother to Jamie's son by Geneva Dunsany, William Ransom, and his stepdaughter, Marsali MacKimmie Fraser, from his marriage to Laoghaire MacKenzie. She is later married to Lord John Grey.
Marsali MacKimmie Fraser is the eldest daughter of Laoghaire MacKenzie and Simon MacKimmie, the older sister of Joan MacKimmie, stepdaughter of Jamie and Claire Fraser, and the wife of Fergus Fraser.
In early 1779, pregnant Marsali, Fergus and their daughters Joan and Félicité settle in Wilmington. Their eldest son, Germain, returns to Fraser's Ridge with his grandparents, Jamie and Claire, as Fergus and Marsali think that it is dangerous for a boy Germain's age to live in a large city in time of war.
Henri-Christian is born as the fourth child of Fergus and Marsali. He is a dwarf and some of the residents of Fraser's Ridge believe he is a punishment for his parents' sins. Henri-Christian is placed in a basket and put into a stream by some boys. Roger saves him and baptized him.
French businessman and merchant The Comte St. Germain (Stanley Weber) is revealed to be Fergus' father. Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) encountered the Comte in season two when she and Jamie travelled to Paris to try and quash the Jacobite Rebellion and avert the tragic Battle of Culloden.
Like Young Ian in my last piece, Marsali has gone through a tremendous arc as a character since we briefly met her in one of Season 3's more shocking moments. She is Jamie Fraser's stepdaughter (by his embittered second wife, Laoghaire), and she's the dedicated wife of Jamie's brothel-born adopted son, Fergus Fraser.
In the TV show, it's pretty clear that Fergus and Marsali don't know that Claire is a time traveler. At least, by Outlander Season 5, Marsali doesn't know.
Fergus is 17 years older than Ian and 15 years older than Marsali.
The killer is in fact Malva's brother, Allan Christie (Alexander Vlahos). He is also the father of her baby, having raped and abused Malva since she was a child. Malva had decided to tell the truth, which is why Allan killed her.
Later, after Claire has returned to the Ridge, she is confessor to Allan Christie, who explains that he was the one that fathered Malva's child, and then murdered her.
In the TV series, we get to see how Malva knows all about Jamie's scars. She spies on Claire and Jamie when they're in the barn, which is going to lead to all of his scars on show. The TV show gave us this scene so that it would clear up questions later on.
Marsali and Fergus tied the knot in Season 3, Episode 11 of Outlander, during a cruise to the Caribbean. They welcomed their first kid, Germain, soon after the wedding. Their second, a daughter named Joan, followed shortly after.
Marsali however took to each trial courageously and saw a future away from Fraser's Ridge. In the fifth episode, she decided it was best to move her family to New Bern for a fresh start and to keep Fergus far from its negativity.
Okay, if you've read Diana Gabaldon's Voyager, you've known about -- and likely been waiting for -- this moment since the season began, as Claire finally came face to face with Jamie's second wife (and her longtime nemesis) Laoghaire, the woman who was so jealous of Claire's relationship with Jamie that she plotted to ...
Ian provides few details after his mysterious reappearance in episode 8, aside from disclosing that he had a wife. Now, in Outlander season 6, episode 4, “Hour of the Wolf,” Ian's story finally unfolds. Joining their tribe, Ian found love with a Mohawk woman, Emily, and the pair were married.
After he's interrogated, John asks Jamie to assure him that Claire will be safe, at which point Jamie reveals that Claire is his wife. Jamie ostensibly still plans to kill John, but an angry Claire argues that there's no evidence that John is a spy.
Yet, even with so many people suspicious of her, there are plenty of characters who know that Claire is a time traveler. As the number of time travelers on Outlander increases, the secret understandably has become harder to keep. But the more people who know, the more Claire and her family could be in danger.
In spring 1767, Fergus and Marsali marry in the West Indies and Jamie gives Fergus his own last name, thus formalizing their relationship as father and adopted son.
Although he may be an adoptive son, Jamie and Claire see Fergus almost as one of their own children. This became particularly clear in season six when the couple showed him some tough love in the face of his alcoholism and the way he'd been treating his wife Marsali (Lauren Lyle).
For now, though, it appears both Fergus and Marsali aren't time travellers with actors Lyle and Domboy addressing this in an Instagram live Q&A from earlier this year.
We learn that Fergus (Romann Berrux) is not getting drunk and beating Marsali.
The simple answer is no. Claire and Jamie don't have any more children after Brianna. Claire heads through the stones while pregnant with Brianna at the end of the second season/book. She spends 20 years in the 20th century, and she and Frank don't have any children together.
