Stress or mental health leave in Australia is not a type of leave in and of itself but only refers to the reason for personal leave. According to the NES, permanent employees are entitled to one hour of personal leave for every 26 hours worked.
In Australia, the National Employment Standards (NES) provide for 10 days of personal/carer's leave per year, which can be used for stress-related conditions. This leave can be taken in a single block or as separate days off as needed. In some cases, an individual may need to take more than 10 days of stress leave.
Get a doctor's note
You can legally take time off work sick for up to seven days without a note, using a method called 'self-certification'. If you require a longer period of absence from work, book an appointment with your GP to discuss whether they can issue a fit note.
Full-time employees are entitled to four weeks of Annual Leave, while part-timers are entitled to pro-rata leave. Shift workers are an exception and may be entitled to five weeks of Annual Leave.

The Long Service Leave Act 1955 (the Act) provides full-time, part-time and casual workers (or any combination of these throughout the period of service) in NSW to 2 months (8.6667 weeks) paid long service leave on completion of 10 years service.
