After the anaesthetic wears off, there may be some transient pain and discomfort, especially a tight pulling feeling if you have had a lifting procedure. These feelings usually ease within a week and can be controlled with paracetamol.
Once injected below the surface of the skin, they will stimulate collagen production and lift the skin over time. Within six to eight months, these threads will dissolve on their own and you will be left with a more youthful appearance.
You will probably see some initial firming and lifting right after your procedure, with your thread lift face results continuing to take shape over the next three weeks or so. As your body begins to naturally generate collagen, your tightened, lifted outcomes should continue to improve for the next few months.
Usually, PDO threads are so thin that they can't be felt or seen underneath the skin. But in some rare cases, people with thin skin can sometimes feel them if they press hard enough on the skin. This won't be permanent though because PDO threads are absorbable and will dissolve themselves in the skin over time.
Instant and Lasting Results
A PDO thread lift can be expected to offer instant results that will actually improve over the span of two to three months after your treatment. Even as the threads fade, your results will keep going strong.
The lifting effect of PDO therapy reaches a peak at around 6 months post-treatment, after which time new collagen and elastin will have formed around the threads to tighten the skin and make the area look firmer, smoother and more youthful.
A PDO thread lift will offer significant results straight away, and you'll notice a tightening and lifting of the skin. However, it will take around two weeks for the collagen production to start to get going, and this is when you will see an improvement of the skin's tone, texture and overall quality.
Removal of thread – By taking an 18 gauge needle, you can pierce the skin to create an opening and manipulate the area to retrieve the thread with a forceps and pull. Pulling the thread can create some discomfort, but removing the thread can be an option.
When a PDO thread snaps, patients can feel a sudden sharp pain, which is often accompanied by a popping or cracking sound. This occurs due to the sudden release of tension in the thread.
Any direct pressure onto your face directly over the threads will be sore for about two weeks. It is common to feel some tugging as you move the treated area. This gradually diminishes and is usually minor by two weeks.
It's possible that the threads were not placed correctly or that they did not provide enough lift or tightening for your individual needs. Additionally, it's important to consider factors such as age, skin quality, and lifestyle habits that may impact the effectiveness of the treatment.
Aside from coping with temporary swelling and tenderness, most clients are able to smile after a PDO thread lift.
An average of 10 threads per area (cheek or jawline, for example) are used.
Fortunately, because the threads placed under the skin during a thread lift are so small, the patient will not feel any of this happening. Most people cannot feel their sutures at all once the skin has healed around them.
You will begin to see results in 6 weeks which continue to improve over the next 2 to 6 months as new collagen is produced. Although the PDO Threads will slowly dissolve, you will continue to see results for up to 12 months.
You'll see instant results from the physical lift, but there is more to come since collagen takes 2-3 months to generate fully. You can expect a complete recovery from your thread lift in no more than two weeks.
You may feel bruised over the treatment area for a few days and there may be some swelling and puckering over the skin. This is normal after such a procedure and will almost always diminish and disappear within 7-14 days.
While it is unlikely that your PDO threads will slip out of place, it is still important for patients to understand the procedure itself as well as thread lift aftercare. To learn how our innovative thread lift works in Little Rock, AR, contact Nirvana Med Spa.

Following PDO thread lift, patients may experience mild swelling, bruising, or tenderness at the suture sites. Over-the-counter medications can help these symptoms, which should resolve within about 3 – 5 days.

How Often Should You Have Treatment? The results of this treatment can last for six to 12 months at a time, so how long the results of your treatment lasts will determine how often you should have treatment. Many patients opt to have regularly scheduled PDO thread lifts once or twice a year.
On average, patients require between 2 – 4 threads on each side of the face for a mid-face thread lift. An additional 2 – 4 threads may be needed for the lower face and/or neck.
