A newborn infant, or neonate, is a child under 28 days of age. During these first 28 days of life, the child is at highest risk of dying. The vast majority of newborn deaths take place in developing countries where access to health care is low.
The term newborn is often used for babies under 28 days or even up to 2 or 3 months of age, according to experts. After this period (and even during the newborn stage), your little one may be referred to as a baby or an infant up until they're around 1 year of age.
By the time your baby is three months of age, she will have made a dramatic transformation from a totally dependent newborn to an active and responsive infant. She'll lose many of her newborn reflexes while acquiring more voluntary control of her body.
Your baby has officially graduated from the 4th Trimester! To put it another way: After nearly three months of life, most babies are actually ready to be born now (some are a little slower and need another month of cuddling to really wake up to the world).
At 2 weeks old, your baby will probably hit the first of many growth spurts, so get ready for a more demanding, hungrier, yet still adorable newborn.
Your baby is 2 months old, an amazing milestone for you both. You are slowly emerging out of the newborn haze of the last few months—and so is your baby. They are no longer a little bundled up newborn. They are opening their eyes, stretching their legs, and breaking out into the cutest little baby smiles.

Sees in black and white and in shades of gray. Is not very light-sensitive.
12 weeks old baby
Your baby is officially 3 months old. The first 12 weeks of life can be challenging for new parents and their babies. Getting to know each other and becoming familiar with what works for you both can take a few months of trial and error.
3 Months CRISIS:
This is the most common time for mothers to give up on breastfeeding, as its a very challenging time. Some babies will have it at 4 months, specially boys. Why: There are a lot of changes in both the mum and the baby. The baby goes through a maturing phase, the brain is developing neuronal connections.
However, many babies tend to get "easier" around 3 to 4 months old. Around this age, infants may begin to sleep longer stretches and feed on a more predictable schedule. You may also start to adjust to your new set of responsibilities as a parent. This being said, every baby is different, as is every family.
You should stop swaddling your baby when he starts attempting to roll over. Many babies start working on this move at about 2 months old. Swaddling once your baby can roll over may increase the risk of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) and suffocation.
Enfamil Enspire is one of the most similar baby Formula to human milk, especially nutritionally. Although it often costs a little more than other options, it contains nutrients only found in mother's milk, making it perfect for breastfed infants. First and foremost, it includes lactoferrin which is found in colostrum.

1-3 Months
The first three months with your baby often seem the hardest. Sleep-deprived parents can feel overwhelmed, but that is normal and you will quickly learn how to read your baby's cues and personality. Don't worry about “spoiling” your baby at this stage.
Most people find the first six to eight weeks to be the hardest with a new baby. And, although people may not openly discuss many of the challenges in these early weeks of parenthood (if at all), there are a number of common hurdles you may face at this time.
Part of the challenges of the newborn stage is the feeling of always having to play catch up. You're scrambling to find the nearest burp cloth because the baby spat up. Bathing a slippery, wet baby seems impossible, and trying to decide what to do next clutters your mind with even more tasks to do.
For many babies, separation anxiety starts at around 8 months of age, but you may start seeing indications of separation anxiety in your baby as early as 4 months. That's because between 4 and 7 months babies begin to realize that people and objects exist even when they can't see them.
"The three month-mark in a relationship is usually when you either take the relationship to the next level and become more serious, or you decide that love isn't going to grow and you break ties," dating coach, Anna Morgenstern, tells Bustle. Every couple goes through the stages of relationships at their own pace.
When your baby is between 1 and 3 months old, she'll be gradually gaining the strength needed to hold her head up. By around 2 months, while she's lying on her stomach, you might notice she can raise her head for just a few seconds at a time. These brief moments help strengthen the muscles in the back of her neck.
Most babies around 3-4 months will take about 4-5 naps per day, and that will likely vary from day to day as well.
Your baby is no longer a newborn anymore and they have officially completed the first quarter of their first year of life. They have reached a number of milestones, such as tracking objects with their eyes, reaching and grasping for things with their hands, and pushing up on their arms when lying on their tummy.
Hiccups are normal and usually don't hurt your baby. In younger babies, hiccups are usually a sign that they need to be seated upright during or after feeding, that feeding needs to be slower for them, or that they need more time before or after feeding to relax.
Within a couple of weeks, as their retinas develop, a baby's pupils widen. They can see light and dark ranges and patterns.
You also may notice your baby stretching and kicking the legs. This movement strengthens leg muscles, preparing your baby to roll over, which usually happens by 6 months of age.
