A1 paper is far bigger than A4 paper. In fact, you can fit exactly eight A4 pages into a single piece of A1! The size of A1 paper is 59.5 x 84.1 cm (23.4 x 33.1 inches), whereas the size of A4 paper is 21 x 29.7 cm (8.3 x 11.7 inches).
An A2 piece of paper measures 420 × 594 mm or 16.5 × 23.4 inches. Cutting it in half will create two A3 sheets of paper. An A2 piece of paper will fit into a C2 envelope.
An A3 sheet measures 420mm x 297mm. so to move up a size 210 x 2 = 420. This gives an A3 sheet the flat size equivalent of exactly 2 A4 sheets.
For example, the dimensions of A4 paper are 210x297mm, and half of A4 equals A5, and double A4 equals A3.
1 A2 paper size = 4 x A4 paper sheet.

The A Series
The A4 is part of the ISO "A Series," where A0, the first dimension, equals almost one square meter (841x1189mm = 999,949 square mm). Starting with A1, each size is one half the square surface area of the previous size while maintaining the same aspect ratio.
A3 and A4 refer to paper sizes, but A4 is actually smaller than A3. Standard paper sizes are different throughout the world.
A3 is bigger than A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, A9 and A10 but half the size of A2.

Size A4 has its shortest edge (210mm) doubled to its longest edge of A3 (420mm). A3 has its sharpest edge (297mm) doubled to be the longest edge of A2 (594mm).
