Our bulk bags are approximately 1 cubic meter (for reference these weigh a little under a tonne). It is difficult to be exact as the weight changes depending on how much water and sand is in the loam.
There are 25 bags (40 litre) of mulch or bark per 1 cubic metre and 40 bags (25 litre) of soil per 1 cubic metre.
Incidentally, 1 cubic metre = 1,000 litres so if you were buying compost in litres you'd need 1.44 x 1,000 = 1,440 litres which is about 20 standard 70 litre bags of bought-in multi-purpose compost.
How Much Does a Bag of Mulch Cover? Mulch is typically sold in bags of 50 L or 2 cubic feet. To cover a 200 sq. ft.
Supplied as 2 x 40 litre bags (at packing), weighing approx. 15-18kg in total.
one 20kg bag will cover an area of 1.1m2 to a depth of approximately 10mm. or 108 x 20kg bags equates to one cubic metre of mixed concrete.
There are approximately 20 barrow loads of concrete per m3. this is based on a standard one wheel barrow, loaded to 80% capacity.
Also called “dumpy bags” or “bulk bags”, the most common size can hold about 0.7 cubic metres of logs which, being less dense than sand or gravel, will weigh considerably less than a ton.
Size: 120cm rim x 60cm length approx.
Compost Bag 9" wide x 13" long (Approx. 5-8 Litres)
Answer: Compost is sold by volume because the weight can vary with the water content. Stones, pebbles and other such materials are sold in kilos because the weight can not vary depending on its conditions.
Harmony Gardens Fruit and Vegetable Compost - 2 Bags (Total 80 Litres / 30.2Kg) | Homebase.
Because the density of compost ist 0.2, the calculation is pretty simple: 20 Liters(=kg) * 0.2 = 4 kg. The weight of 20 liters of compost is approximately 4 kg.
Bag size: 30 litre - Approx. 110cm rim x 72cm length with gathered base.
What are 10L and 20L? The L stands for Litres. 10 Litre's is about 10 qts (quarts) or 2.5 gallons, 20 L is about 20 qts or 5 gallons. The L refers to litres from the metric system.
General Composting Rules
The composting pile should be at least 1 cubic yard (3' x 3' x 3'). Ideal size is a 3 to 5 foot square. Locate the composting pile on level, well-drained ground near a water source. Stay away from wooden fences and buildings.
Adding too much compost may be harmful, especially in vegetable gardens. You can apply too much compost at one time or over several years. Too much compost in soil stunts plant growth. It also may create water pollution.
In general, bulk bags follow the basic formula for volume: volume equals length times width times height. Under this formula, a 35-inch by 35-inch by 35-inch bag can hold about 42,875 cubic inches, or 25 cubic feet, of material. Bags with larger dimensions offer increased capacity.
