Standard Definition Plan – One simultaneous stream at a time is $10.99 AU per month. High Definition Plan – Two simultaneous streams at a time is $15.99 AU per month. Ultra High Definition & High Definition Plan – Up to four simultaneous streams at a time is $19.99 AU per month.
Pay for Premium and there can be four devices of any kind watching Netflix at the exact same time. However, those users and devices cannot be permanently in another household.
A Netflix account is for use by one household. Everyone living in that household can use Netflix wherever they are — at home, on the go, on holiday — and take advantage of new features like Transfer Profile and Manage Access and Devices. We recognize that our members have many entertainment choices.
Change your plan
Our plans allow you to both stream content and store downloaded titles on 1, 2, or 4 devices at the same time.
What are the new rules? Netflix will only let people share an account if they live in the same household — or pay an extra fee. It'll ask people using someone else's account to get a new account of their own or stay on as a paid "extra member".
You can have up to 5 profiles on a single Netflix account.
The account owner will need to purchase an extra member slot, then invite an extra member to use the extra member slot. The extra member must be activated in the same country where the account owner created their account. Extra members cannot be added to Netflix-included packages or third-party billed accounts.
The price for Netflix accounts in Australia ranges from $6.99 per month for the Standard with Ads option to $22.99 per month for the Premium plan.
Standard ($15.49/mo.) allows for both 720p and HD 1080p video resolution (depending on the content), and two simultaneous streams. This is the most popular Netflix plan. Premium ($19.99/mo.) can stream 720p, 1080p, and 4k video resolution, and allows for up to 4 simultaneous streams.
Both the Basic and Basic with ads plans allow you to watch Netflix on one screen only. With a Standard subscription, you can watch Netflix on two screens at the same time. Those with a Premium plan are able to watch Netflix on four screens at once.
Netflix allows you to watch on multiple devices at once, which is convenient for family sharing. Depending on the kind of Netflix plan you have, you can stream video on 1 to 4 devices at once. You can also create up to 5 Netflix profiles, so everyone can have their own recommendations.
Netflix keeps track of each account's last viewed episode or movie and the date and time when someone watched it. If you see something on the list you don't recognize, there's a good chance someone else is using your account.
So you have two options: transfer your friends and family members mooching off your account to a new membership or share your Netflix account for an additional $8 monthly fee. “Your Netflix account is for you and the people you live with – your household,” Netflix said in an email to U.S. subscribers.
For this reason, we suggest you change your Netflix password and sign out of all devices. This will permanently kick them out and you can now peacefully log in back again with your new password and share with your family as per your wish.
The streaming company is limiting password sharing to people living in the same household. Account holders can add more people outside of the household for an extra $7.99 a month, or they can use the "transfer profile" feature to prompt extra users to make their own accounts that they pay for, Netflix said Tuesday.
If you have the Netflix Standard plan that costs $15.49 per month, then you have the option of adding one extra member who can use the service outside your household for $7.99 extra each month.
Unfortunately, Netflix does not offer the option to pay for a year-long subscription upfront. However, they offer a monthly subscription that you can cancel anytime. So, if you're interested in paying for Netflix yearly, you'll need to set up a monthly subscription and cancel it after 12 months.
Update: Similar to other regions, and in line with its previous announcements, Netflix has officially rolled out changes to Australian subscribers that use IP monitoring to determine where they're watching, and ensure accounts aren't being used in multiple households.
The company says it will use information such as IP addresses, device IDs, and account activity to determine whether a device is part of a household, and insists that it will not collect GPS data from users.
Netflix's crackdown on password sharing begins in Australia. You'll now need to pay an extra $8 a month to share outside your household.
Your account can have up to five individual profiles, and you can set a maturity rating level on each one.
Do you want to add a device to your Netflix account? You can easily activate a device by simply logging in. If you use a streaming device or Smart TV, you'll need to open the Netflix app and click "Sign in". This will generate a code that you can use to activate your device via computer or mobile device.
Open the Profile & Parental Controls settings for the profile you want to lock. Change the Profile Lock setting. Enter your Netflix account password. Check the box to Require a PIN to access the selected profile.
