How much time does it take to study for nursing school? A great deal of time. As a general rule of thumb set aside at least three hours of study for every hour spent in the classroom, at least three.
Nursing (RNs)
On average, students in nursing school get 5.69 hours per night. That's probably because they're busy studying enough to get through their four-year degree program for a Bachelor of Science in nursing (BSN), an associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or a relevant diploma from an approved program.
The majority of nurses attend nursing school for 2-4 years to become a registered nurse (RN). An associate degree in nursing (ADN) is a two-year program and a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) is a four-year program.

The requirements of your state and the program you attend can affect the specific length of attendance.
It's hard work.
During your three years of training you'll be working 37.5 hours a week plus doing coursework, research and evidence for practice. If you're thinking of becoming a Nurse because it's easy – think again.
Depending on the specific nursing program that you enroll in, it could take anywhere from 16 months to four years to become a registered nurse.
Experts note that lack of sleep in nurses is dangerous for patients and the RNs themselves. Licensed Mental Health Counselor Gina Marie Guarino says, "A lack of sleep heightens emotions, dulls awareness, and fogs the mind to prevent rational and logical thinking.
The max number of hours a nurse can work in a row is usually 16 hours. Though many facilities will limit nurses to working no more than 12 hours straight.
Even the choice of major makes a difference when it comes to slumber. Anthropology majors get the most sleep, whereas architecture and computer science students get the least.
