Queen Elizabeth never wears the same outfit twice at important events. Therefore, the sovereign prefers to either change her outfits and if she gets bored of them, she sends them to her dressers, who are then allowed to either wear them themselves or sell them.
No washing machines
Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla's clothes are not allowed to be cleaned in washing machines—everything is hand washed.
Royals do not accept free clothes, so neither Kate nor Meghan ever receive gifted outfits. Kate's stylist, Archer, will often call in designer items on loan but they will then be returned.
As for Kate, she has been working with Natasha Archer since 2007. According to The Cut, she calls in some options from different designers, and then goes through them with Kate to see which one she prefers. Then she will simply send back those that don't work, and buy the ones she keeps.
It's unlikely we'll see more senior members of the royal family, like the Queen, Prince Charles, or the Duchess of Cornwall frequenting their local grocery stores, royal expert and founder of the Royal Musings blog, Marlene Koenig, tells BAZAAR.com.

Darren McGrady, 60, who worked as a personal chef to the Queen, as well as Princess Diana and Prince William and Harry, revealed Kate Middleton often cooks her own meals and even does her own grocery shopping.

The Queen preferred grilled fish or chicken, served simply with vegetables. She generally skipped starches like potatoes, grains, or rice during her evening meal.
While the royal family have their own personal chefs to give them whatever food any of them desire, they have been known to enjoy the odd takeaway now and then. This includes The Queen, who usually samples the fish and chips from a takeaway near the Balmoral estate.
She also owns Trafalgar Square as well as the Tower of London and, funnily enough even has her own cash machine in the basement of Buckingham Palace. But one thing we might not expect the Queen to own is a McDonald's. Spoiler alert: she does.
As for what the queen kept in her bag, royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith says the items weren't all that different from what normal women carry with them: a mirror, lipstick, mint lozenges and reading glasses. As for the rest of the royal family, they have their own dress code rules they have to follow.
