A unit of quantity equal to 1087 (1 followed by 87 zeros).
A unit of quantity equal to 10102 (1 followed by 102 zeros).
An octovigintillion is equal to 1087 in short scale, or 10168 in long scale. This number is also called enneicosillion in Russ Rowlett's Greek-based naming system (not to be confused with enneicosillion). This number can be imagined as the cube with sidelength of 100 octillion (1029).
A unit of quantity equal to 1096 (1 followed by 96 zeros).
noun, plural un·de·cil·lions, (as after a numeral) un·de·cil·lion. a cardinal number represented in the U.S. by 1 followed by 36 zeros, and in Great Britain by 1 followed by 66 zeros. adjective. amounting to one undecillion in number.
This number was given the name googolplex and is defined as 10 to the power of a googol, or 1 followed by a googol zeros.
The next number after trillion is quadrillion, or a 1 with 15 zeros after it: 1,000,000,000,000,000.
Written out in ordinary decimal notation, it is 1 followed by 10100 zeroes; that is, a 1 followed by a googol of zeroes.
Definition of sextillion
noun, plural sex·til·lions, (as after a numeral) sex·til·lion. a cardinal number represented in the U.S. by 1 followed by 21 zeros, and in Great Britain by 1 followed by 36 zeros.
But where do we go from million? After a billion, of course, is trillion. Then comes quadrillion, quintrillion, sextillion, septillion, octillion, nonillion, and decillion.
Then, you finally reach Millinillion. Repeat with those numbers to reach Billinillion. After that comes a Trillinillion, Quadrillinillion, Quintillinillion, Sextillinillion, Septillinillion, Octillinillion, Nonillinillion, and on...
(short and long scale) Previous: quindecillion. Next: septendecillion.
The number 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. One thousand novemdecillion is a vigintillion.
noun, plural sex·de·cil·lions, (as after a numeral) sex·de·cil·lion. a cardinal number represented in the U.S. by 1 followed by 51 zeros, and in Great Britain by 1 followed by 96 zeros.
A unit of quantity equal to 10126 (1 followed by 126 zeros).
A googol, officially known as ten-duotrigintillion or ten thousand sexdecillion, is a 1 with one hundred zeros after it. Written out, a googol looks like this: 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.
There's not a googol of anything physical in the universe. On the other hand, numbers larger than a googol routinely arise in application. When you're counting potential things rather than physical things you can run into numbers much larger than a googol. This happens all the time in probability calculations.
Graham's number is bigger than the googolplex. It's so big, the Universe does not contain enough stuff on which to write its digits: it's literally too big to write.
A googol is the large number 10100. In decimal notation, it is written as the digit 1 followed by one hundred zeroes: 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.
Zillion sounds like an actual number because of its similarity to billion, million, and trillion, and it is modeled on these real numerical values. However, like its cousin jillion, zillion is an informal way to talk about a number that's enormous but indefinite.
If you have an enormous, indefinite number of things, you can say you have a gazillion.
