According to authorities in the coin hunting community, collectors should be looking for U.S. coins that contain significant percentages of silver. Dimes, quarters, and half-dollars minted before 1965 will be 90% silver. Half dollars from 1965-1970 will be 40% silver.
Around 230,000 of each coin are now in circulation across the country, but collectors can choose to purchase individual coins or the full tube and folder set, either online or from participating Australia Post outlets.
The Flowing Hair dollar was the first dollar coin issued by the United States federal government. The coin was minted in 1794 and 1795; its size and weight were based on the Spanish dollar, which was popular in trade throughout the Americas.
Australia, 1968 One Cent -
With the lowest mintage of all circulation one cent pieces, the coin was never available in a mint set (the Royal Australian Mint did not issue a mint set in 1968) making them today very difficult to hunt down in Mint State or UNC.
The reverse depicts an Australian Koala sitting in a eucalyptus tree. The $200 gold coin with the koala reverse was minted in 1980, 83, and 84 with the Machin obverse and in 1985-86 with the Raphael Maklouf portrait of the Queen.
