Create a cleaning solution with equal parts of water and hydrogen peroxide. The hydrogen peroxide is able to soften and break down earwax, helping it dissolve and make its way more quickly out of the ear. You may also find a commercially marketed ear drop to use for wax build-up.
As one of the most effective ways to remove excess wax, hydrogen peroxide is best able to remove stubborn ear wax from inside your ear canal. Using a dropper, place a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water (equal parts) into your ear as you lay on one side.
According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery Foundation, as long as the ears are functioning properly, people should not be trying to remove ear wax, and should leave it alone. For the vast majority, ear wax does not cause any problems and there isn't a need to remove it.

Some people use their fingers in lieu of Q Tips, but fingers should also not be inserted into the ear canals. Like Q Tips, fingers can push the wax deeper into the canal and cause a cerumen impaction. Also, fingernails can scratch the ear canal, which can lead to an infection.
Here's what not to do.
Don't stick things into your ear canal, no matter how tempting this idea may be. Cotton swabs, ear candles, and small objects like tweezers or bobby pins don't belong in the ear canal, and they can actually do more harm than good.
Frequent washing, however, can do more harm than good because it strips the ear of this delicate, protective lining, leaving the way open for bacteria to get in and multiply. Experts, recommend that you only clean your ears every two to four weeks.
Most OTC solutions contain 3% hydrogen peroxide, which is the generally recommended concentration for earwax removal. People can make ear drop solutions at home using a 1:1 ratio of water and hydrogen peroxide. However, always consult a doctor before using any homemade solutions.
Soak a cotton ball with the hydrogen peroxide. Tilt your head and drip the peroxide into your ear. You may hear it fizz as it tries to dissolve the earwax. After about 30 seconds, drain your ear onto a washcloth.
Your ears are self-cleaning
Your ear doesn't need a housekeeper because typically your ears are self-cleaning. When you move your jaw, the wax moves along the ear canal to the opening where it can either dry up, flake off or fall out. It's only necessary to clean when there is an excess.
