The key to conceiving a boy is to do “the deed” close to your ovulation. As Dr Shettles points out, male-producing sperm (Y-chromosome) move faster than female sperm. Male sperm also dies pretty fast, while female-producing sperm (X-chromosome) can stick it out and take their time hooking up with the egg.
Because male sperm is the faster of the two, Shettles suggests having intercourse as close to ovulation as possible, so the male y sperm can reach the egg first. If you have sex several days before the day of ovulation, the less resilient male sperm may die off. This leaves more female sperm to fertilize the ovum (5).
Deep penetration, for example doggy style, means the male sperm that can swim faster start their race closer to the cervix and are more likely to reach the egg first, resulting in a boy. To try and conceive a girl, Shettles suggested avoiding deep penetration, favoring the missionary position.
Best positions: deep penetrative sex is preferable. This helps to deposit the semen and sperm closest to the woman's cervix so they are given the best opportunity to get to the egg in the fallopian tube. Twelve hours before ovulation is thought to maximise the chances of conceiving with a boy.
You're most fertile at the time of ovulation (when an egg is released from your ovaries), which usually occurs 12 to 14 days before your next period starts. This is the time of the month when you're most likely to get pregnant. It's unlikely that you'll get pregnant just after your period, although it can happen.
Men do not have a 'fertile window' because sperm is continually formed and stored in the testicles, ready to be used at any time. Graphic 1 shows when pregnancy is most likely to happen in people having sexual intercourse without contraception.
If you have two children, you'll have a 50% chance of having a second boy, based on the ratios above. Then if you have three children, you'll have a 25% chance of having all three boys, and a 75% chance of two girls and a boy or two boys and a girl. Yes, genetics can play a part, but it all comes down to chance.
Fertility treatment
Some fertility drugs work by stimulating a woman's ovaries, which can sometimes cause them to release more than one egg. If sperm fertilizes both of these eggs, this can result in twins. In vitro fertilization (IVF) can also increase the chance of conceiving twins.
For a Boy:
As male sperm are faster swimmers that cannot survive as long it is thought to be more likely to conceive a baby boy closer to your ovulation day. From 2 days before ovulation, ovulation day itself and the 24 hours after ovulation are thought to be the best time to conceive a boy.
In Hindu astrology, the Krishna Paksha or Shukla Paksha is said to be the best time for your baby boy's birth. This period is believed to give you the best chance at having a son, and it will have many positive effects on your life.
Morning may be the best time to have sex for conception, at least as far as sperm are concerned. Some studies have suggested that sperm count and quality are slightly higher early in the morning, which may mean better odds of conception if they're deposited right after a good night's sleep.
For healthy semen samples collected between 5:00am and 7:30am were found to exhibit a statistically higher sperm concentration, total sperm count and a higher percentage of normally shaped sperm, compared to samples produced later in the day.
You can visit a clinic or doctor's office. However, we recommend using an at-home testing kit, such as themyLAB Box Male Fertility Home Test. As you can probably guess, home sperm tests measure your total sperm count. This is helpful, since beyond testing, there may not be any visible signs and symptoms of infertility.
Male fertility generally starts to reduce around age 40 to 45 years when sperm quality decreases. Increasing male age reduces the overall chances of pregnancy and increases time to pregnancy (the number of menstrual cycles it takes to become pregnant) and the risk of miscarriage and fetal death.
For a person whose ovulation timing hovers near the average, it would be possible to get pregnant by having sexual intercourse as early as day 7, right after a period, and sometimes while still bleeding.
Women who have a period every 28 days will ovulate around day 14 and their best chance of conceiving is between days 11 and 14.
When you're pregnant with a boy or girl, the color of your urine isn't affected by the gender of your baby. Rather, it stems from what you eat, drink, and ingest. Color changes can be triggered by certain foods or by your fluid intake; taking prenatal vitamins can also impact the hue you see when you pee.
Pregnant women carrying girls have a greater chance of experiencing nausea and fatigue, according to the results of a study from the USA's Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
As per this method, it is recommended that couples start having sex 2-3 days before ovulation if they wish to conceive a girl. However, if they wish to conceive a boy, they should start having intercourse at least 4-6 days before ovulation.
Pausha Putra Ekadashi is celebrated by Hindu devotees, who worship Lord Vishnu, to pray for a son.
