The short answer: no. There's no right way or wrong way. Prayers can be long or short, formal or informal, joyful and angry. God promises to always listen to us and our prayers.
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
There is power in praying aloud, so although silent prayers may be more comfortable for you, you should try to give voice to them when you can.
Begin your prayer
Before you begin, find a quiet place where you feel comfortable. A good way to start is to address God by name. You can try “Dear God,” “Dear Heavenly Father,” “Our Father which art in heaven,” or simply “God.”
The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13): “'Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.
Recorded prayers
Three prayers on the cross: "Father forgive them; for they know not what they do" (Luke 23:34) "My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?" (Matt 27:46, Mark 15:34)
To say that any one prayer posture is superior to another would be biblically incorrect. The bible teaches us that God loves variety and He speaks to each of us differently. There are no rules, no right or wrong way, just as long as we pray! Always be spirit led and never led by anything or anyone else.
These three powerful morning prayers are the prayers of thanksgiving, the Lord's Prayer, and the prayer of Jabez. Jesus taught his disciples how to pray, the Bible tells us to enter his gates with thanksgiving, and Jabez prayed to God and God granted him his request.
Once you've said all that you wanted to say, you can end your prayer by saying, “In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.” We do this because Jesus commanded us to pray in His name.
How long we pray does not matter as much as how often we pray and the spirit we bring into our prayer. Some, in trying to be pedantic say that we should pray for one hour. The reason they give is because Jesus said to His disciples, “Will you not watch with me for one hour?” (Mk. 14:37).
The most effective, prayer, the one that is always answered is this: ""Father, glorify Your name. "" ""Answer my cry, O Lord, in a way that will accomplish Your will, for Your will is good, acceptable, and perfect. It is best for You and therefore, best for me and any others who may be affected by this prayer.
There are times when we can say, “Your will be done” without having to struggle. Yet, for all Christians, there are times when, like Jesus, we find “Thy will be done” to be one of the hardest prayers ever.
“Your will be done” is a difficult prayer to pray sincerely. It may be the hardest prayer you will ever pray. Even though Jesus Himself instructed us to use these words, there are at least four reasons why we find it difficult to do so.
Dear God, we give thanks to you, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for another beautiful day with our loved ones. As we conduct our day, you are forever in our hearts and thoughts. We ask for your love, guidance, and protection in everything we do. Please watch over those who mean the most to us.
You might say, "Dear God," "Our Heavenly Father," "Jehovah," or any other name you have for God. You can even pray to Jesus, if you like. Acknowledge God's greatness. If you have faith in God, you believe he is the creator of the world and all life on earth.
As a church we brainstormed some of the challenges we face when trying to pray. Things we came up with included distractions, fears, guilt, and time management. These are real obstacles.
Pause & Pray is way to counteract the feelings of impatience, anger and busyness many of us are experiencing in our lives at this time. It's a reminder that we need to settle ourselves down and take time to listen to the God who wants to be a part of our lives.
Respect for God as a Strategy to Concentrate in Prayer
Furthermore, if you want to reduce distractions, then always remember him. Filling your mind with love for this world is one of the reasons that give rise to distraction. People try to put their expectations in things that will only help them in this world.
