INFJs tend to be guarded about their physical space, except for when it comes to family and VERY close friends. If they're finding excuses to touch your hand, bump up against you, or hug you, then it probably means they have feelings for you. Keep in mind, some INFJs will still feel too shy to get very close to you.
Loyalty is not only a quality that INFJs are attracted to, but also something they expect to find in a future partner. Once again, it all comes down to trust. For an INFJ, loyalty means more than 'not cheating'. It means someone who supports you and makes an effort to truly understand you.
I always feel awkward around them if they're not my friend. I will avoid them at all costs but at the same time wish I had actually talked to them. If we do get to talk, I'm going to be fighting a battle inside about what to say. I normally end up saying weird and random things I always regret.
INFJ: Superficiality
Superficial conversations about gossipy topics or small talk don't usually interest an INFJ, so it can be a major turn-off when someone is too eager to stick to the surface level of communication. Shallow conversations and frivolous topics can make an INFJ feel bored, disconnected, and uninspired.
Match their intellectual needs. Female INFJs love discussing various topics, and their thirst for discovery is unquenchable. If you want to keep their attention, engage in deep conversations and show them you share their interests. Always be honest. At times, INFJs may need some time to accept the harsh truth.
They can be moved to tears by music, art, theatre, books, films, food or flowers. INFJs are very aware of other people's moods and feelings and can feel them themselves, leading them to be exhausted. Because they feel so misunderstood, INFJs don't often share their deep feelings with others.
INFJs preferring Quality Time and/or Words of Affirmation is also supported by a survey conducted by Heidi Priebe. According to Priebe's survey, 35.67% of INFJs list “Quality Time” as their preferred love language.
An INFJ might flirt by asking someone to listen to a song that might help convey feelings the INFJ can't verbalize. We flirt by being awkward. Do we spend a lot of time around them and try to catch a quick glimpse, and then turn away? We flirt with time.
INFJs are known to be great at a lot of things. Flirting isn't one of them. Many INFJs feel uncomfortable or awkward flirting, at least the traditional way. We would rather have a deep conversation with someone than tell silly jokes or give them random compliments.
Because of our passionate need for meaningful connection, we INFJs can get jealous easily when we see other people connecting and having fun. We might compare ourselves to them, or worse yet, when someone close to us has friends of their own, we might pull away, feeling unwanted and pathetic.
The INFJ is most compatible with both the ENFJ and the ENTP. These two personality types can use their extroversion to bring out the best-hidden qualities of the INFJ.
Also, if you're going to compliment an INFJ, try not to focus too much on their looks. While INFJs do value and appreciate beauty, we want to be loved for more than the way we look. We want to know you value our insight, our unique perspective on things, or the way we get so much out of long conversations.
Ni-dominant types (INTJs and INFJs) often need considerable quiet time to themselves to think and focus. Interruptions, noise, and excessive sensory stimulation will push an INFJ to the edge of their comfort zone.
INFJs are perfectionists. Their compulsion for perfection can be harmful to the INFJ themselves, but it can also push people away. The INFJs high expectations can make their partners feel like they are never good enough.
The INFJ feels like the friendship is one-sided.
If they feel like they're always the ones giving and never the ones receiving, they may cut off a relationship so they can allocate their emotional investment into a better, healthier relationship. When relationships start to feel one-sided, INFJs tend to pull away.
If an INFJ gets personal with you about their emotions and life details, it means they like you and want you to be interested in them. They will share things about their life, family, and dreams. Once they can trust you, they will even express their deep emotions about people and situations.
Really, when the time comes, all you have to do is speak plainly and from your heart. And don't mar your confession by saying anything that might cause your INFJ to doubt the sincerity of your feelings. A simple “I like you” or “I love you” will send our heart fluttering like you wouldn't believe.
