Extensive displays of underage drinking, excessive references to sex, sexual situations, racial inuendoes, and strong language make this totally inappropriate for children under 16.
Although Cobra Kai is rated TV-14 on Netflix, I would rate it as TV-MA, because of the sexual content, especially Season 1. Kids may want to watch the show if they're fans of Karate Kid since some of the original stars are in it, but Cobra Kai is not appropriate for kids under 16, in my opinion.
The Karate Kid sequel series is funny, emotional, and full of amazing fights and captivating characters. But, at the same time, Cobra Kai is strangely uneventful. Its flashy, eye-catching action scenes often feel like a distraction from the fact that nothing actually happens in the story.

Because of his unsportsmanlike behavior, Barnes and the entirety of the Cobra Kai dojo are banned from participating in the All-Valley tournament.
Extensive displays of underage drinking, excessive references to sex, sexual situations, racial inuendoes, and strong language make this totally inappropriate for children under 16.
Season 5: 7 spoken F words, 4 in English and 4 in Spanish, (displayed in subtitles), and 1 written on a note that is clearly seen and zoomed on using the prefix "mother". Various milder language throughout.
But on balance, Cobra Kai does right by its Latinx characters, allowing us to laugh and play along with them. Sadly, Cobra Kai Season 5 feels like it's smashed right into a creative brick wall as it's lost its balance relying heavily on poor comedy and incredibly superficial character plot lines.

In a sense it's a creator of a lot of good conversation between you and your older teen. But the level of violence is inappropriate for younger teens who are still trying to separate fantasy violence from reality, and even many adults can become desensitized to violence and abuse, and this series is rife with them.
The Karate Kid (2010)

By focusing on one of the original movies' bad guys and the fallout from the franchise's climatic moment, this smartly written and poignant drama is a surprisingly compelling watch. The main reason it succeeds is that all involved had a vision for why they wanted to revisit The Karate Kid more than three decades later.
The Karate Kid movies might be beloved cult classics, but Cobra Kai outdoes its franchise predecessor in its depth, humor, action, and other aspects. While the Karate Kid movies are beloved by audiences, the spinoff series Cobra Kai is better than its franchise predecessor for many reasons.
Another is about a couple trying desperately to conceive and details aren't spared. Fantastic show but I think 14-15+ is a good time to introduce it.
