A: 3X means that the waist circumference is three times that of large and tall means just about anything, but will work really well if the guy is 6'5""! The 3X waist will fit a 52" waist (Plus). My waist is 42 and a large performs quite nicely.

An XXL is a Misses 18. A 1X is a plus size 14/16. The difference is that plus size clothing is generally made wider and with more room in the arms, hips, thighs, butt, and stomach areas.
