The movement of the chairs, which are organised by rows (and provide plenty of leg room, another plus), is just right – not quite roller coaster-esque but with enough momentum to give you a sense of giddy joy.
4DX is a state-of-the-art film technology developed by CJ 4DPLEX which delivers an immersive multi-sensory cinematic experience. 4DX incorporates on-screen visuals with synchronized motion seats and environmental effects such as water, wind, fog, scent, snow and more, to enhance the action on screen.
Most viewers tend to lean back in their seats. 4DX, however, is incredibly disorienting if you sit that way — you feel at the mercy of the chair, which can go side to side, up and down, and forward and backward. Eventually, we discovered that it was best to sit up straight and almost lean forward a little bit.
Do you get wet at 4DX? You may get slightly wet! You experience rain, wind and even snow, all under one roof in our 4D Cinema!
But if you are the kind that would rather zone-out to another world — this experience would be heavily incompatible with your need. For one, it is distracting. In your anticipation for the next bolt, you would lose sight of the main narrative.
If you are pregnant, elderly, physically or mentally sensitive or have any of the following health conditions, you should not use a 4DX auditorium: high blood pressure, heart conditions, allergies, neck or back conditions, epilepsy, motion sickness or other conditions that could be aggravated by the 4DX equipment.
Can you turn the effects off? There is a button on your arm rest that allows you to turn the water effects off. No other effects can be turned on/off. All chairs move together, so we cannot stop individual chairs from moving.

The 4DX equipment can aggravate existing medical conditions or cause users to suffer a loss of equilibrium or balance, headaches or dizziness and in extraordinary circumstances, epilepsy-like symptons.
There's no bad seat in a 4DX auditorium as they all move along with the action. That being said, you'll be more engulfed by the fog and the bubbles closer to the front as that's where the machines are located, and you'll get a fuller experience of the rain right in the centre of the auditorium.
Do you have to wear 3D glasses for a 4DX film screening? The 4DX experience takes place in a special auditorium at the Kinepolis cinema: thanks to its hinged seats and adapted environment, it plunges the viewers into the universe of the film. However, if the film is not presented in 3D, you don't need to wear glasses.
The 4DX auditorium features motion seats and special effects including wind, fog, mist/rain, scents and more that perfectly sync to the on-screen action.
But, if your motion sickness is severe or you are really worried, the 4DX might not be worth it for you and you should stick with the RPX. If you are someone who has been waiting for a certain movie forever and it is finally coming out in theaters so you're looking for a way to celebrate, 4DX was made for you.
If a movie is well made – and Doctor Strange is well made – you'll have just as much fun in 3D (or even 2D) as you will in 4D, which is to say that 4D does not make all other types of theatres obsolete. With that said, 4DX is worth the price of admission. It's a gimmick, but as gimmicks go the price isn't too obscene.
4DX Scents
From an ocean breeze to a fresh cut grass smell and even coffee there are a multitude of scents that can be used within a 4DX screening. 1000 to be exact. Well, so they say. Every 4DX screening I've ever been to only seems to have those 3 aforementioned smells.
4DX Recliner is a motion base that can be added to existing recliners, offering a more comfortable and private movie watching experience to audiences. This enables exhibitors to repurpose auditoriums with existing recliner seats by adding a 4DX motion base.
Children between the ages of 4 to 7 years may attend screenings only if they are accompanied by an authorized guardian. Owing to the weight restrictions of seats, persons weighing over 120 kilograms shall not be permitted to attend 4DX screenings.
usually Row E and up is good and somewhere in the middle of the aisle. But overall, all the seats are good if you are looking for good viewing locations.
You may get slightly wet! You experience rain, wind and even snow, all under one roof in our 4D Cinema!
I feel the same excitement for 4DX as I do for VR games, where it makes the experience feel more impactful because it's much more immersive, and it feels like the medium has finally adapted to the modern age. It should be noted though that YMMV heavily, I imagine.
4DX effects and types of 4DX cinemas
4DX cinemas are divided into four categories – 4DX Prime, 4DX Pro, 4DX Standard and 4DX Economy. With 4DX Prime and 4DX Pro, you will have all the 21 effects, which is why these tickets will also be some of the most expensive ones.
IMAX uses two 2K projectors to show films either in 2D or 3D. The projectors are powerful enough to display high-quality images in the 15/70 mm film format. 4DX, on the other hand, uses multi-screen projection, plus the 21 effects, to deliver a 4D movie-watching experience. IMAX tickets are relatively cheaper than 4DX.
The 4 disciplines of execution® (4DX) is brought to us by FrankilnCovey who also brought us Stephen R Covey's book: 7 Habits of Highly Effective people®.
If the theater management decides to improve your locations for any reasons, it is at their discretion. Ushers are not in the position to offer different seats but there are times when they see that a potential problem can be resolved by moving a ticketholder from one place to another.
4DX presents an all-five-senses immersive cinematic experience allowing everyone to connect with the movie and experience special effects through motion, vibration, water, wind, lighting, scents and more that enhance the visuals on-screen. Children must be at least 4 years old and 42" tall to attend a 4DX film.
