Princess (later Queen) Aurora, Aurora or Sleeping Beauty is the deuteragonist of the 2014 live action Disney film Maleficent and also its 2019 sequel
Queen Leila is a minor character in the film, Maleficent. She was the daughter of King Henry, the wife of King Stefan, and Aurora's mother. She was married to Stefan as part of his reward for his "slaying" of the fairy, Maleficent.
Meet Mal and Evie: Mal (left) is played by Dove Cameron (Disney Channel's Liv and Maddie) and is the daughter of Maleficent, played by Kristin Chenoweth (Glee, Broadway's Wicked). Evie (right) is played by newcomer Sofia Carson and is the daughter of the Evil Queen, played by Kathy Najimy (Hocus Pocus, Sister Act).
She followed Aurora's life to revel in her "ingenious" revenge. Maleficent kept Aurora safe initially (feeding her and keeping her from falling off a cliff) so that she could continue to enjoy her plan. Of course, over time her normal, loving personality became dominant, and she wished she had never cursed Aurora.
In the original Sleeping Beauty, Maleficent hated Aurora's parents and had nothing to do with her upbringing. The only thing Maleficent did to or for Aurora while she was a child was the curse placement. In Maleficent, Maleficent becomes Aurora's Fairy Godmother.
Since watching Aurora over her childhood years, Maleficent soon grew a maternal love for her. One day Aurora thought that Maleficent was her faerie godmother and often visited the Moors while Maleficent tried to stop the curse but she herself had said no power on Earth could cure it apart from true love's kiss.
Vivienne stars in Maleficent with her mother Angelina
But in the end she suggested Vivienne for the cameo role because none of the child actors would go near her. "We think it's fun for our kids to have cameos and join us on set, but not to be actors," Angelina told EW.
Plot. Maleficent is a powerful fairy living in the Moors, a magical forest realm bordering a human kingdom. As a child, she meets a human peasant boy named Stefan, and they both fall in love with each other.
Maleficent confirms that Aurora will grow in grace and beauty, "beloved by all who know her", but as revenge for not being invited by the kingdom, she places a curse on Aurora so that before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday, she will prick her finger on a spinning wheel's spindle and die.
Phillip hugs his father and marries Aurora.
Background. In the Enchanted Forest, presumably, Maleficent's dragon form mates with another dragon which results in her becoming pregnant and eventually having a daughter named Lilith, or "Lily".
The way Maleficent loses her magnificent wings is unsettling. Stefan, the man who Maleficent thinks loves her, drugs her. While Maleficent is unconscious, incapacitated, Stefan tries to work himself up to the task of killing her. Instead he cuts off her wings (offscreen thankfully).
Queen Ingrith is a worthy adversary to the dark fairy Maleficent, with an evil plan to divide humans and fairies forever. She was portrayed by Michelle Pfeiffer.
The Maleficent version of King Stefan was initially good, but he became an evil villain. When Stefan was first crowned king after cutting off Maleficent's wings, until Aurora's christening, he appeared to be just a wise king, but that all changed quickly when Maleficent cursed his infant daughter Aurora.
“Beastie” is what Maleficent calls her. “Aurora” is her name, or Dawn, if you want a translation. “Sleeping Beauty” is what we've always called her, especially since Disney's badly received 1959 animated feature of the same name.
Aurora is the twin sister of Northstar and the former lover of Sasquatch and Wild Child.
'Once Upon a Time': Meet Maleficent's child, Lily -- all grown up.
Stefan later betrayed her and stole her wings, so he would be able to become the new king. Stefan later married Leila, Henry's daughter, and she became his wife and queen. Maleficent, enraged from his betrayal, placed a curse on his newborn daughter, that when she will turn 16, she will fall to a sleep like death.
As they make their way back to the Moors, Maleficent becomes captured by Stefan and his guards. She and Diaval become easily pinned down and just before Stefan can kill her, Maleficent's wings return to her after Aurora frees them.
Before the film series, Hades had married Maleficent and had a daughter with her. This child was Mal, who didn't have any contacts with Hades, and both Maleficent and Mal both resented him; Maleficent because she thought he was a weak human and Mal because he was never there for her.
In the newest version of the story, a movie just about Maleficent, you find out why she hates King Stefan. As a young fairy girl who lives in the Moors with other magical creatures. She meets a boy who later becomes King Stefan.
Maleficent used to be a powerful fairy living in the Moors, a magical forest realm bordering a human kingdom. As a young girl, Maleficent meets and falls in love with a Scottish human peasant boy named Stefan.
Maleficent is the main antagonist of the Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants and Disney's 1959 animated feature film, Sleeping Beauty. She is the leader of the Disney Villains. She is also Mal's mother, and Hades' wife.
Princess (later Queen) Aurora, Aurora or Sleeping Beauty is the deuteragonist of the 2014 live action Disney film Maleficent and also its 2019 sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. She is the only daughter and only child of the deceased King Stefan and Queen Leila, and the "goddaughter" of the fairy Maleficent.
