Bellafill patients have reported results lasting upwards of 7 years or even longer, whereas the results of other fillers vary from 6 months to 3 years. Bellafill is especially good for treating marionette lines, as well as other wrinkles and scars.
Marionette Lines Treatment Options
Juvéderm® is recommended for the patient who have shallow marionette lines, but for patients with very deep marionette lines, Radiesse® is recommended as a base and often Juvéderm® as a pillow-top technique.
On average, it costs around $1,000 per syringe, and how many syringes are needed depends on the individual and the treatment area. On average, patients pay around $2,600 for Bellafill injections.
Radiesse is a more long-lasting filler and used on multiple areas. Both Juvederm and Radiesse are effective in treating marionette lines, but Juvederm recommended for shallow marionette lines. Radiesse recommended for more severe marionette lines and wrinkles.
Bellafill is most often used around the mouth for vertical lipstick lines and around the nose (nasolabial folds). It is also used to fill in deep scars such as acne pitting and scars left from surgery or a physical trauma. Bellafill can replace lost facial volume in areas that have been affected by the aging process.
One of the main disadvantages of Bellafill is its higher cost compared to Sculptra and traditional fillers. Additionally, Bellafill injections can have a higher risk of side effects such as lumps, nodules, and granulomas.
Cosmetic treatments, such as dermal fillers, cosmetic peels and laser resurfacing, may temporarily get rid of or minimize marionette lines. Healthy habits can prevent these lines from worsening.
You can combine dermal fillers with Botox injections to reduce the pull of the depressor muscles which pull down on the corners of the mouth and worsen the appearance of the marionette lines. This not only helps improve the appearance of the marionette lines but prevents them from getting deeper.
Cost of dermal filler in marionette lines:
Typically 1-2mls at least are required. Some patients will require more than this.
Bellafill stimulates collagen at the site of scars, filling them in. Typically 2 treatments are done 8 weeks apart. One syringe can do 9 scars on average.
My average patient who has Bellafill or most other fillers in their cheeks requires five syringes. Two syringes may work for the nasolabial folds or mouth corners but the cheeks are a much larger facial area and typically require much more.
Dermal fillers are applied to the marionette lines and the corners of the mouth. This hides the shadow between the 2 areas creating a flatter shape. This smoothens out the marionette lines and reduces the appearance of the jowls.
Lip filler and smile lines, also known as marionette lines, typically need between one to tow syringes, while the jawline can necessitate two to four syringes. If you're looking at filler for your cheeks, a good starting point is between one to three syringes per side.
While the results may be similar, Bellafill lasts much longer than its counterparts. Bellafill patients have reported results lasting upwards of 7 years or even longer, whereas the results of other fillers vary from 6 months to 3 years.
Retinol and Retin-A
Both treat wrinkles by exfoliating dead skin cells and promoting skin cell turnover. Retinoids can also help stimulate collagen production. Both can treat marionette lines, although you should be careful not to apply these topicals to your lips or mouth.
While dermal fillers are often the 'go to' treatment for deeper lines, marionette lines botox is also an effective option. Botox can be used to relax the muscles which pull down the corners of your mouth and accentuate the appearance of marionette lines.
Natural Marionette Lines Treatment Options
You don't always have to get dermal fillers, but you can try increasing your vitamin c intake, using well-reviewed wrinkle creams, consuming anti-inflammatory foods, buying a cream concealer, and more. All these factors will help increase collagen production in your skin.
Marionette lines are thin, often vertical lines between your eyebrows and your upper lip. They can make you look older, but they're usually caused by repeated facial expressions, like smiling or frowning.
Due to the microsphere support structure, your skin will continue to improve for 12 months, and patients have a 90% satisfaction rate at this point. It's likely that even after 5 years your skin will continue to look healthy and smooth. Many people experience results that can last as long as 8-10 years after injection.
Answer: After performing thousands of syringes of Bellafill over the last 7 years, half of my patients returning 9-12 months later notice that their Bellafill looks even better than after the initial treatment.
