Child's Play | 2019 | R | – 3.9.
The “R” rating from the MPAA ought to give you a good idea that Child's Play isn't going to be the best film for your ten-year-old's birthday party. If that isn't enough to dissuade you, I must point out that this film has some of the gooiest gore I've seen in a horror film for a while.
Parents need to know that Child's Play is a 1988 horror movie in which a doll possessed by a recently-deceased serial killer goes after a little boy and those around him. There are a few killings, the violence mostly of an unreal horror-movie variety (an electrocution victim gets charred and bloody, like hamburger).
It took the reviewer two hours to regain composure from the film's emotional bombardment of graphic, explicit gore, violence, murder, and the accompanying sound effects. The message that comes through CHILD'S PLAY 2 is anti-child.
If your kids are 13 and above, and don't get nightmares, go for it. If not, go see it without them.
A 15 rating means nobody under 15 is allowed full stop. 12A films are the ones where younger kids can go with a parent/ adult. Can a 12 year old watch a movie? Unaccompanied children of any age may watch, but parents are advised to consider whether the content may upset younger, or more sensitive, children.
Violence & Scariness. Lots of wild death scenes, blood, and gore -- often played cartoonishly and accompanied by wisecracks from Chucky.
R – Restricted
Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian. Contains some adult material. Parents are urged to learn more about the film before taking their young children with them.
Toy Story 2 [1999] [G] - 1.3.
The NC-17 rating is the highest rating (even higher than the R-rating) that a film can be given, and it means the movie is for adults only (ages 18 and older) and no one age 17 or younger will be admitted. This rating, prior to 1990, was previously rated X.
I actually found "Child's Play" to be a very scary film. I did not find it too gory, but what gore there is it was done to heighten intensity levels to the extreme. All in all,I wholeheartedly recommend it to any open-minded viewer, who likes to watch horror movies. The hammer in the head scene still gives me goosebumps.
R: Restricted, Children Under 17 Require Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian. This rating means the film contains adult material such as adult activity, harsh language, intense graphic violence, drug abuse and nudity.
Dread Central reports that the rating is based on "violence/horror, bloody images, and for language". This is honestly is music to our ears. While there have been plenty of excellent, creepy slow-burn chillers that don't need an R-rating, It is not one of them. Warner Bros.
As far as slashers go, Child's Play isn't particularly gruesome or scary. Honestly, it feels more like a thriller than something like Friday the 13th or Halloween or A Nightmare on Elm Street. There aren't that many kills in the film, and most of them are fairly tame.
No. However, the BBFC considers the content of 12A rated films to be suitable for children aged 12 and over, and we would not recommend taking very young children to see them.
Films classified 12A contain material that is not generally suitable for children aged under 12. No one younger than 12 may see a 12A film in a cinema unless accompanied by an adult. Adults planning to take a child under 12 to view a 12A film should consider whether the film is suitable for that child.
Content that may disturb children
In addition to the violent scenes mentioned above, Toy Story 4 has some scenes that could scare or disturb children under five years: Gabby Gabby has a team of evil, creepy, threatening ventriloquist henchmen. They pop up all over the place.
Parents Need to Know. Parents need to know that even though there are no traditional bad guys in Finding Nemo, there are still some very scary moments, including large creatures with zillions of sharp teeth, the apparent death of a major character, and many tense scenes with characters in peril.
Toy Story 4 is rated G. G is for General Audiences; all ages should be admitted into theaters to watch the movie.

It is the violence in a movie that disturbs children. The degree of violence is often given in the rating—for example, graphic violence or rape. Forbid all R-rated movies until your child is 13 years old.
The film is filled with over-the-top violence and gore and is permeated with sexual innuendo. Characters curse, runaway from home, dress scantily, practice voodoo, have sex, and kill one another.
