However, many employees in many private companies work six (or five and a half) days, taking only Friday off (the basic requirement under the law). Friday is Holy Day in Dubai so it is quietest on that day. Traditional souks and heritage sites are closed until 4pm on Friday and the metro doesn't start till 1pm, however, all the malls etc are open at 10am as normal.
The UAE federal government has adopted a four and a half-day working week. Hence, employees work eight hours, from 7.30 am to 3.30 pm from Monday to Thursday, and from 7.30 am to 12.00 pm on Fridays. Saturdays and Sundays are the official weekends for the federal government sector.

The UAE has moved its Friday-Saturday weekend to Saturday-Sunday in a landmark reform that came into force on January 1, 2022. The new system was rolled out across all government entities and most firms in the private sector followed suit.
When is the federal employee's weekly off? The employees of the federal government are granted a two-and-a-half-day weekly off, from Friday afternoon till Sunday, in all the emirates except Sharjah.

According to Article 2 of the law, employees who work a ten-hour day for four days will fall under the category of a “compressed working week,” granting them a three-day weekend. The Human Resources law also identifies four distinct work patterns: full-time, part-time, temporary, and flexible.
A standard working day in the UAE is 8 hours long, although for some industries, the working day can be extended to 9 hours, with approval from the Ministry of Human Labour and Emiratisation (MoHRE).

As of now, the UAE does not have a national minimum salary or wage since the country's labor law does not specify any minimum salary requirements.

According to Article 19 of the UAE's Labour Law, an employer can ask an employee to work overtime, provided the number of extra hours does not exceed two hours in one day.
In the United Arab Emirates, offices typically open from 8 or 9 am and close between 5 and 6 pm.
