Ginny is a pureblood witch born 11 August 1981, the seventh child and only daughter of Arthur and Molly Weasley. She attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and is sorted into Gryffindor house, along with the rest of her family.
In the books and films, Ron and Ginny Weasley, Neville Longbottom were all assigned to the courageous House of Gryffindor, while Luna Lovegood was sorted to the cerebral Ravenclaw, but the online sorting hat on Pottermore had other ideas for the actors that played them.
Canon Divergence. In Harry Potter canon, Ginny is Sorted into Gryffindor, while Prince of Slytherin's Ginny is Sorted into Slytherin. At the beginning of her first year, POS-Ginny is gifted a non-cursed journal by Harry, negating her desire to write in Tom Riddle's diary.

Cho Chang is a Ravenclaw student one year above Harry, and is the Seeker for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. She is Harry's first love interest, is described as being "very pretty" with long dark hair and is frequently accompanied by a group of giggling girls.
At Hogwarts, she, along with her sisters, was sorted into Slytherin. It is suggested in the novels that, as a student, Bellatrix associated with a group of students – including Rodolphus Lestrange, Severus Snape, Avery, Evan Rosier and Wilkes – who nearly all became Death Eaters.
It's pretty obvious: J.K. Rowling is a Slytherin. According to the Harry Potter Wiki, a Slytherin is known to embody the following characteristics: ambition, shrewdness, cunning, strong leadership, and achievement-orientedness.
During his sixth year, Harry discovers that he finds Ginny to be a source of constant hilarity. When he is sixteen, Harry develops feelings for Ginny, but it is not her physical attributes that he spends the bulk of his time thinking about; rather, it is her humour.
In the Chamber itself, we see a large statue of a wizard, which Harry presumes is Salazar Slytherin. We also meet Tom Riddle, who is, as it turns out, the heir of Slytherin. Present only in spirit, he has all the same been controlling Ginny, and having her act as Slytherin's heir.
Through this dialogue, Tom grew stronger and ultimately poured a little of his soul into Ginny, manipulating her to kill Hagrid's roosters and open the Chamber of Secrets.
The Tom Riddle incident
Lord Voldemort lived inside those pages, and Ginny was eventually possessed as the Dark wizard began to absorb her strength, control her into opening the Chamber of Secrets, and nearly killed her. The event, though undeniably traumatic, was a pivotal point in Ginny's life.
And this is why Hermione does not fit into Ravenclaw, since she lacks their creativity of thought. When you also add in her fearlessness and her strong convictions about right and wrong, which are inherently Gryffindor traits, then there was even less of a chance she'd end up wearing blue and bronze.
Hermione points out that Padma and Parvati Patil are twins, yet while Parvati ended up in Gryffindor, Padma is a Ravenclaw.
Severus was Sorted into Ravenclaw, thankfully avoiding being sorted into Slytherin, as that would put a strain on his relationship with his best friend and true love, Lily Evans. While attending Hogwarts, it was noticed since his first day that the boy was a prodigy.
In general, Hufflepuff as the worst Hogwarts house has contributed nothing of note to the world of magic, though Newt Scamander would be a notable exception to that, however he is one of a very short list outside of him and Helga Hufflepuff herself.
And, naturally, J.K. Rowling herself is a Gryffindor.
