Goku's original Saiyan name is Kakarot, for carrot, and provides the page image. Raditz is radish, while Nappa is named after Napa cabbage. The two phantom Saiyans in a filler episode are Onion and Broco(li). Vegeta is named after the word vegetable itself.
While majority of the cast is named after food, the full-blooded Saiyans are the only ones named after vegetables. For instance, Gohan is named after rice, Chiaotzu is named after dumplings, and while Goku means “Aware of the Void/Emptiness”, his true Saiyan name, Kakarot is a mutation of carrot.

Creation and design. Gohan's name comes from the Japanese word "gohan" (ご飯, lit. "cooked rice" or "meal of any sort"), a continuation of the naming scheme of foods by Toriyama. Rice, being a grain, is not normally considered to be a vegetable, even though it is a common food.

The name "Beerus" was taken from the word "virus", though Toriyama mistakingly believed the word meant "beer", which began the naming pun used for Whis during production of Battle of Gods, and later future Gods of Destruction and attendants after alcoholic beverages.
Broly (ブロリー, Burorī; "Broli") is a Saiyan who makes his debut in the movie Dragon Ball Z: Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan. Broly's name is an allusion to the broccoli vegetable, which is even stated in the English version of the movie when Master Roshi refers to him as "Broccoli" by accident.
