Gwen Poole (of Earth-TRN565), better known as Gwenpool, is, despite appearances, not an alternate version of Gwen Stacy, but rather a comic book fan originating from a universe where all the heroes and villains of the prime reality are fictional characters.
Unbelievable Origin
Believing she'd be relegated to a comic book extra and quickly forgotten, Gwen found a costume dealer and requested a white masked costume to better distinguish herself. Due to a handwriting mixup, Gwen was now dubbed Gwenpool.
It's no secret that Gwenpool is the mixture of the two characters, Deadpool and Gwen Stacy; it's even in the name. So when the two characters finally met each other, they had a very unshocking friendship.
On Earth-65, Gwen Stacy was bitten by a radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker. Taking the name Ghost-Spider (and affectionately called Spider-Gwen by her fans), she uses her great powers responsibly to protect New York and the Web of Life!
Since this universe already has a Spider-Woman, Gwen decides she needs a new name. Considering how so many of her multiverse counterparts are dead, as if "Death loves Gwen Stacy," she decides to adopt her "Ghost-Spider" nickname as a new official alias.
