Homer Jay Simpson is the bumbling husband of Marge, and father to Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson. He is the son of Mona and Abraham "Grampa" Simpson. Homer held over 188 different jobs in the first 400 episodes of The Simpsons.
Heading the family is Homer, a flabby oaf with perpetual 5 o'clock shadow who works, incompetently, at a nuclear power plant. (Groening's father's name is Homer, too, but Groening named his animated paterfamilias after Homer Simpson, a character in the Nathanael West novel “Day of the Locust.”)

At ten years old, Bart is the eldest child and only son of Homer and Marge, and the brother of Lisa and Maggie. Bart's most prominent and popular character traits are his mischievousness, rebelliousness and disrespect for authority.

In an attempt to purposefully enrage his father, Bart once stated that he felt "a little attracted to Milhouse", sending Homer into a rage. Bart and Milhouse appear to be the same height, but in the episode "Radioactive Man", it is revealed that Milhouse is at least 1 in (25 mm) taller than Bart.
Abbey (voiced by Dan Castellaneta) – Abbey is hinted to be Abe's illegitimate daughter and Homer's half-sister from a relationship he had with a British woman named Edwina during World War II.

Homer and Marge realize that the creature has escaped, prompting Marge to call Dr. Hibbert. He explains that Bart has an evil twin named Hugo. The two were originally conjoined, but were separated at birth.
Bart will often address Homer by his given name instead of "Dad" (when he was a baby, this was because other adults would refer to him as this), while Homer in turn often refers to him as "the boy".

Jessica Lovejoy was Bart's first girlfriend. She liked Bart because of his bad boy attitude and the fact that her parents didn't like him. Bart liked her because she was "smart, beautiful, and a liar".
Viewers of the Simpsons learned that Homer Simpson has been diagnosed with narcolepsy. Narcolepsy is a pretty unusual disorder, though it is debilitating. Its defining feature is excessive sleep or sleepiness during the day.
In the episode, Bart makes a voodoo doll of his hippie art teacher when he gets sick of art class and cast a spell to make her sick, but when he inadvertently gets her pregnant, he becomes a savior to Springfield couples trying to conceive—and is subsequently kidnapped to help conceive a thoroughbred race horse.

Seeing a ship approaching, Homer destroys the lighthouse's huge bulb, hoping its passengers will befriend him after their ship crashes ashore. An apologetic Marge arrives, having known exactly where Homer would go. They reconcile after realizing they really are soulmates despite their differences.
