The MPAA rated Iron Man PG-13 for some intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence, and brief suggestive content.
There is plenty of comedy to offset the action and therefore we feel that this movie should be suitable for kids aged 10 and over. We feel you may not be happy with children under 10 watching 'Iron Man' mainly due to the realistic intensity of the opening war zone scenes which take up the first 15 minutes of the movie.
The MPAA rated Iron Man 2 PG-13 for sequences of intense sci-fi action and violence, and some language.
This movie is darker and has more action violence, death and destruction than previous Iron Man movies. The M rating is certainly justified. The violence and disturbing scenes make the movie unsuitable for children under 13 years and many aged 13-14 years also. At 130 minutes, it is also a long movie to sit through.
All of the Marvel movies are rated PG-13, at least in the MCU, not counting films like Deadpool. All Marvel movies will have some content that is technically not suitable for young children. That being said, some of them have less violence and more language, or less violence and more language, or some sexual content.
Incredible Marvel film has plenty of swearing, violence.
Also, there was a bit of violence, but not much blood shown. So, yeah, 12 and up should handle it.
The movie contains sometimes brutal violence and scary scenes and characters, which makes it unsuitable for children under 12 years. We recommend parental guidance for children aged 12-15 years. These are the main messages from Thor: The Dark World: Love triumphs over all.
Thor: Love and Thunder is rated PG-13 by the MPAA for “intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, language, some suggestive material and partial nudity.” For fans in the UK, it has been rated 12A.
The first five theatrical releases (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, The Return of the Jedi, The Phantom Menace, and Attack of the Clones) were rated PG, and every movie since (The Revenge of the Sith, The Force Awakens, Rogue One, The Last Jedi, Solo, and The Rise of Skywalker) has been rated PG-13.
Sex, Romance & Nudity
Making out and tumbling about in bed. A young woman wakes up in a bed covered only by a sheet, presumably after sex, and then walks around wearing just a man's shirt. Flight attendants dance suggestively (a dance pole is present but not used); much is made of Tony's reputation as a playboy.
Some parents may also be concerned about the coarse language. The film is therefore not recommended for children under thirteen and parental guidance is recommended for the 13 to 15 age group.
Parents need to know that Spider-Man's PG-13 rating comes from a couple of swear words, a clingy wet T-shirt, and -- particularly -- a great deal of comic book-style violence. It can get very intense and includes not just fires and explosions, but people getting vaporized, shot (off-camera), and impaled.
Parents need to know that Iron Man 2 has even more explosions and action than Iron Man, but it also ups the snarky humor and sexual innuendo. The two biggest concerns for parents are violence (while there's not much blood, there are plenty of bombs, weapons, and fights, as well as two men who are…
Black Panther isn't recommended for children under 13 years, and we recommend parental guidance for children aged 13-15 years. That's because the intense and brutal violence is shown in a way that's likely to make the violent scenes seem more real to younger viewers.
Parents Need to Know
Families with younger kids should know that there's definitely as much intense violence (decapitation, explosions, stabbings, impalement, crushing, shooting, etc.), and even more pain, trauma, and grief here than there was in Avengers: Infinity War.
In addition to the violent scenes mentioned above, Guardians of the Galaxy has some scenes that could scare or disturb children under five years. For example: There are many alien creatures that might scare younger children.
Parents need to know you can expect to see some partial nudity, intense violent scenes, alcohol use, emotional scenes, and profanity used by some of the characters. To sum it up, Thor: Love and Thunder is not kid-friendly for some younger kids.
This movie, while very good, is not appropriate as a family movie, certainly not for 12 year olds as indicated.
Captain America: The First Avenger is a classic good vs evil action adventure story. It's based on a Marvel Comics character. It contains violent and disturbing scenes that make it unsuitable for younger children and teenagers.
Parents Need to Know
Expect some occasional swearing ("hell" and a few instances of "s--t") and some kissing.
Expect plenty of comic book-style action violence, including weapon use and hand-to-hand combat, as well as two injuries/deaths that are likely to upset younger audiences.
See below for our full tabulation of every time an Avenger swears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, counted up through Avengers: Infinity War. There are almost no surprises on this list. The Avenger with the worst potty mouth, by far, is Tony Stark. He clocks in at 44 swear words, mostly of the “ass” variety.
While some minor bits and pieces might fly over their heads, kids will intuitively grasp the vital elements. Disney-era Star Wars like The Force Awakens offer a diverse set of heroes for kids to identify with. In terms of role-modeling, there are plenty of great heroes for boys and girls.
Although all MCU movies have been rated PG-13, which means they're each allowed one use of the F-word, Marvel Studios has refrained from including that particular swear word. Other, less severe curse words have been used, leading to Captain America's "Language!" joke in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but never the F-word.
