Hoping to leave his past as a contract killer behind him and pursue a normal life, he met with Viggo Tarasov, boss of the Tarasov mob, who agreed to grant him his freedom if he could carry out what was described as an "impossible task", implying that Wick was not expected to survive the mission.
When John wanted to retire from the hitman life to settle down with his soon-to-be-wife, Helen, Tarasov head Viggo (played by the late, great Michael Nyqvist), gave him an impossible task: kill all of his enemies in a single night.
Why did John Wick have a bounty? John killed a member of the group at the end of the second movie on the grounds of the Continental Hotel, where murder is strictly forbidden. As a result, the High Table put that $14 million bounty on his head.
Appearances. "In for a penny, in for a pound." Ms. Perkins was a ruthless contract killer who targeted her ex-colleague, John Wick, when a $2 million bounty was put on his head by Russian crime lord Viggo Tarasov.
The story is loosely inspired by an incident in Texas involving former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, who wrote Lone Survivor, about his fireteam's ordeal during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan in 2005. Luttrell was given a yellow labrador puppy, whom he named DASY, after the members of his fireteam.
Anger and Revenge: John's determination in going after his target is both his greatest strength and his weakness as he often refuses to stop pursuing them, even when it would be in his interest to do so, or even wait for a better opportunity to strike.
John Wick gained its majority of success through its groundbreaking and jaw-dropping action. The film's many action scenes have been hailed as some of the best and most iconic action scenes in cinema, with the Red Circle Shootout, and Knife Room fight being among the best in the franchise.
John Wick is on the run, being hunted with a $14 million 'open' contract on his life for breaking a foundational rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim, Santino D'Antonio (Riccardo Scamarcio) was a member of the High Table, the organization that ordered the open contract.
After John has a $14 million bounty placed on him and is made excommunicado from the Continental Hotel, Winston gives John a Marker.
John Wick 3 ends with Reeves' character being betrayed by Winston (Ian McShane), the owner of The Continental, which presents some interesting possibilities going forward. Despite being shot, it seems John Wick will be ready for more of the high-octane action the series has become known for.
As an expert in assassinations, John Wick's versatility with weapons is what makes him feared by powerful icons in the criminal underworld. John Wick's ability to think and act fast makes his assassination schemes a walkover even when equally talented gunmen & assassins are his targets.
Gold Coins are used as a currency for services in the underworld, instead of paper money or credit card, as these coins are mostly untraceable by the banks or authority. The coins are used mostly in the Continental Hotel chains for various underworld services but other underworld services can also be paid by the coins.

Pre-John Wick
John Wick, to complete his "impossible task" assigned by Viggo Tarasov, which allowed him to retire and marry his deceased wife, Helen, asked Santino for help. As a form of contract, Santino swore John to a "Marker," an unbreakable promise symbolized by a "blood oath" medallion.
At the end of John Wick 2, John kills Santino in the New York City Continental, a violation of the strict rule of no "business" being conducted on Continental grounds. John is fully aware that breaking this rule will bring great consequences, which might make his decision seem difficult to grasp.
The term translates to “a boogeyman,” not a particular individual, but one of many. Surely, John Wick's kill count makes him feared by many, but he is certainly not the only elite assassin in the franchise. Therefore, Babay is much more fitting for his character over Baba Yaga.
In the first Wick feature, he pays a coin per body for corpse removal service of twelve dead bodies which equals out to $15,300 according to the current gold standard.
John Wick is making his way through Manhattan before he is labeled "excommunicado" for the unauthorized killing of High Table crime lord Santino D'Antonio on the grounds of the New York Continental Hotel, which is considered neutral ground. He sends his dog to safety with the concierge, Charon, at the very same hotel.
Taran Tactical STI 2011 Combat Master: Charon gave this pistol to Wick in preparation of the shootout in the Continental Hotel and suggested he dual-wield it with the 9mm major. He also supplied him with 125 grain bullets which travel at 1,425 feet per second, describing them as "serious business."
In John Wick, the all-black suit is a recurring motif, a visual shorthand that tells us when John is at his most lethal. It first appears as he begins his reentry into the criminal underworld, and when he eventually dispatches his chief target, he returns to the comfort – and normality – of his pyjamas.
Violating the rules of the hotel can be punished by excommunication, which is an open contract on your life.
There is no evidence from the movies that John Wick is mentally ill.
John Wick is the main anti-hero of the film of the same name and its sequel. He is portrayed by Keanu Reeves in both film appearances.
Fictional character biography. John was born Jardani Jovanovich (Russian: Джордани Йованович, Belarusian: Ярдані Яванавіч) in Padhorje, Byelorussian SSR, Soviet Union on September 12, 1964. He was orphaned at a young age before being taken in by an old friend of his father, who would eventually become John's mentor.
Though the timepiece can be seen, John Wick wears it on the inside of his wrist. According to Chad Stahelski, the movie's co-director, the character wears it that way to protect it during action-packed scenes, which is similar to how soldiers wear their watches when out in combat.
