(also spelled Jörmungandr), in Norse mythology, the evil
Jörmungand, in Germanic mythology, the evil serpent and chief enemy of Thor (q.v.).
And legend had it that they did kill each other in their final battle. If Odin and Fenrir became sworn enemies for Odin's cautions against Ragnarok, Thor hated Jormungand for his Midgard Serpent was the only one in the cosmos that could be a challenge for him.
By far the most important role that Jormungandr has to play in Norse mythology is as part of Ragnarok, the prophesized battle at the end of the world in which the Aesir gods and giants will fight to the death, and cause the total destruction of the Norse cosmos. It may be that Jormungandr himself triggers Ragnarok.
Surtr, also spelt Surtur or Surt, is a primordial Jötunn (giant) present in the Norse mythology. He's considered the one who shall end the world during Ragnarök. He is also one of two "supreme evils" of the old Scandinavian myths, the other being Loki.
He can be seen as both good and evil; it depends on who you're asking such a question. However, the God of War series takes a darker approach to him, making him more evil, similar to how Zeus was portrayed. How evil is he, then? Well, between torture, killing, and slavery, it's safe to say that Odin's pretty evil.
Shining Baldur of the Aesir tribe was the loveliest and most beloved of all the gods of the Norse pantheon. Baldur exuded charm, and was so physically beautiful that he gave off light. He was also described as the wisest of all the gods.
Personality. Jörmungandr harbors a strong hatred towards the Aesir gods, principally Thor and Odin, for massacring the giants to near extinction.
Often, the Ouroboros is used as a symbol for the eternal cycle of life, death, and rebirth. The skin shedding of the serpent is said to symbolise the movement of the soul into another body after death, while a snake biting its own tail is considered a fertility symbol.
Ragnarök is the last time Thor encounters Jörmungandr as the two finally meet in battle. Thor kills the serpent but has been sprayed so thoroughly by Jörmungandr's poison that he is only able to walk nine paces before falling down dead.
Odin has pretty clearly been shown to be demonstrable more powerful than the other gods. Odin's Odinforce has far outstripped anything Zeus's magical lightning bolts have ever done.
Loki and Heimdall kill each other
Loki and Heimdall are frequently implied to be enemies in Old Norse texts, there's even mention of the two turning into seals to fight each other. The rivalry comes to a head in Ragnarok when Heimdall kills Loki.
He quickly grows so big on a daily diet of whales that he's able to encircle the whole world and bite his own tail. Yowza. Jormungand is Thor's nemesis; the big one that the hero just can't catch.
'the Vast gand', see Etymology), also known as the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent (Old Norse: Miðgarðsormr), is an unfathomably large sea serpent or worm who dwells in the world sea, encircling the Earth (Midgard) and biting his own tail, an example of an ouroboros.
The giant snake is an important ally in the first game; however, it is in God of War Ragnarok, where his story truly shines. Jormungandr is a giant snake that encircles the world and is the sworn enemy of Thor. The pair are even destined to kill each other at Ragnarok.
In Norse mythology, Lif and Lifthrasir (also spelled Life and Leifthrasir) were two people designated to be the sole human survivors after Ragnarok, the battle at the end of the world.
“Thor will kill the Midgard Serpent, and then he will step back nine feet. Because of the poison the serpent spits on him, he will fall to the earth, dead.
The Ouroboros serpent is meant to be a positive symbol that represents unity and the natural eternal cycle of destruction and re-creation. It is unlike many other cultural representations of snakes, such as in Christian tradition, which have distinctly evil associations.
Male. Jörmungandr is referred to as a "he" in translations of the Prose Edda, such as (quotes, in both cases, from this text):
In the Norse myths, the Jörmungandr, also known as the Midgard Serpent, is a snake of a titanic size that has been locked in the sea surrounding the realm of the men. What inspired the old Norse to believe such a creature existed is unknown to us.
Based on its brightness and the way it reflects light, Jormungandr is probably between 0.502 to 1.122 kilometers in diameter, making it larger than ~97% of asteroids but small compared to large asteroids, very roughly comparable in size to the Golden Gate Bridge.
From my experience Ganesha is a rather strong counter to Jorm. His instant silence can stop both of Jorm's windup abilities (2+3) and still put them on cooldown. His dash will both stun him and daze him.
Why is Zeus the strongest god? Zeus is the strongest of the gods in the Ancient Greek religion because he has both power and intelligence. He is able to ensure that he is not replaced by another, more powerful deity. He is also able to ensure the allegiance of many other gods by giving them rights and privileges.
Thor was the son of Odin and Jord the earth giant. He is now the most famous Norse god thanks to the success of some blockbusters adapting Thor in Norse mythology. Thor was the god of thunder and storm. He had the Mjolnir hammer from which he could create lightning and thunder.
