Evans was the surname of a Muggle family. They must have had some distant magical blood. At least one member, Lily Evans, was a Muggle-born witch. They were related by marriage to the wizarding Potter and Weasley families, and distantly to the Prewett family.

While Dumbledore said he would protect the Potters, it was on the condition that Snape now worked for him as a double agent. Snape's love for Lily ran so deep that he agreed. When she was still murdered, he reluctantly decided that her death would not be in vain, and that he would protect her son.
English actor Richard Griffiths, who played Vernon Dursley in the Harry Potter film series, died unexpectedly from complications following heart surgery, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He was 65.
