So far, that was the only film in the trilogy where Loki didn't "die." His final, final death came at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. Loki's parting words to Thor were, "the sun will shine upon us again." And it has, but in separate universes!
Loki's death in Avengers: Infinity War is the ultimate sign of character growth. He identifies himself as "Odinson", solidifying his familiar bond with his brother Thor and finally accepting Odin as his father.
The Loki who died in Infinity War is still dead, but the Loki from the past – around the events of the first Avengers movie – is alive and well.
Grant. Older than any of the other Loki variants, Loki Episode 5 reveals that Grant's Classic Loki actually managed to survive his predetermined death at the hands of Thanos. “I cast a projection of myself so real even the Mad Titan believed it, then hid as inanimate debris,” says Classic Loki.
Loki has always delighted in cheating death, manipulating others into believing he was dead in order to hatch his next scheme. At the end of Thor, he apparently took his own life — but Loki survived death by plunging into one of the many portals he knew could be found in Yggdrasil.
From his first MCU appearance in 2011's Thor, Loki revealed his ability to create duplicates of himself and fake his death. At the end of the film, Loki was seen careening through space to his apparent death, only to resurface during the end credits scene.
So, to be fully clear, Loki only ever actually died one time. When he dropped from the bifrost in Thor, he didn't die, but rather went directly into a wormhole that eventually led him to a world called Sanctuary, where he met a guy you may have heard of: Thanos.
Of course, the biggest question is when and how Thor and Loki could reunite in the MCU. The only one confirmed to return in the Multiverse Saga is Loki, in the second season of his TV show, but it would be too early for him to reunite with his brother.
Alas, now that Thor: Love and Thunder is out, we know for certain that Loki doesn't appear in it.
Loki's ultimate failure against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War is bound to happen again against Kang the Conqueror and his variants in Avengers 5.
Loki didn't die in Thor: The Dark World
Like his mother Frigga, Loki has a great deal of magic at his disposal, and one of the things he's good at is creating an illusion of himself that can be sent to other locations. At some point during the battle, Loki swaps places with his double, who's the one who died.
Tony Stark died at the end of 'Avengers: Endgame' but before that he saved the entire universe from Thanos and his forces by snapping them out of existence and ending their threat once and for all. But the use of all the six Infinity Stones all at once took its toll on his body and he died of his grievous injuries.
Thanos only kills that pose a threat at the moment (e.g. Loki and Heimdall). Thanos views everyone as being reasonable and doesn't expect people to agree with his 1/2 the universe ideology, which is why he'll let Thor play the lottery and survive or die later.
Thanos destroys everyone and everything on the ship. He takes the Tesseract (which has an Infinity Stone inside) from Loki and then chokes the god of mischief until he dies. “No do-overs this time,” Thanos tells Loki in that scene. From there, Loki is gone.
Loki was the very first Avengers-level threat – later revealed to be sent by Thanos – as he brought an army to attack New York in Avengers Assemble.
We expect it continue in Loki season 2 (2023) through to Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars in 2025. Now that you're up to speed on the current state of the MCU and what's coming next, read on below to learn about the specifics of Loki season 2.
Who are Loki's offspring? With the female giant Angerboda (Angrboda: “Distress Bringer”), Loki produced the progeny Hel, the goddess of death; Jörmungand, the serpent that surrounds the world; and Fenrir (Fenrisúlfr), the wolf. Loki is also credited with giving birth to Sleipnir, Odin's eight-legged horse.
Sure enough, Loki himself didn't make an appearance in Thor 4. However, along with Matt Damon's appearance as actor Loki (which was positively inspired), we did get some very sweet Loki-themed moments. At the beginning of the movie, Korg is narrating the story of Thor's life so far.
Unfortunately, logistically it wouldn't work with where the MCU is right now story-wise. The only way to do so would be to bring the main character variant Loki from the TV show over into the main timeline, but him having to explain his journey to the audience and to Thor would take up too much time.
Iron Man Probably Won't Be Back
Bringing Tony Stark back would be a mistake because his character arc is already complete, from a successful billionaire who ran his company named after his father, to a superhero who made it his top priority to protect the world from dangerous threats and weapons of mass destruction.
3. Although Avengers: Endgame famously concluded with Thor joining the Guardians of the Galaxy onboard their spaceship, their intergalactic team-up was short-lived. In fact, it didn't last beyond the first 15 minutes of Thor: Love and Thunder.
Some people utterly believe that Loki sacrificed himself for his brother's sake, and the truth is his actions and words alone were very telling―he loves Thor, he always has, and though both have their disagreements, he would easily trade his life for his brother's.
Loki and Heimdall kill each other
Loki and Heimdall are frequently implied to be enemies in Old Norse texts, there's even mention of the two turning into seals to fight each other. The rivalry comes to a head in Ragnarok when Heimdall kills Loki.
As in the comics, Loki has generally been a villain in the MCU, variously attempting to conquer Asgard or Earth, and having allied himself with more powerful villains to achieve his aims.
Loki killed 80 people. In the 2012 film, The Avengers, in a meeting, Thor warns Bruce Banner to be cautious when talking about Loki because he is Thor's brother. The Black Widow responds, "He killed eighty people in two days." Loki is Thor's adopted brother.
