While on the planet, when someone asked her who she was, Rey responded by saying that she was "Rey Skywalker." Although she wasn't related to them, both Luke and Leia had been mentors to Rey throughout the
Rey's heritage was the main secret of the entire Star Wars sequel trilogy, before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker finally revealed she's the granddaughter of the big bad himself -- Palpatine.
While the Skywalker bloodline is technically gone, Rey honors her fallen mentors, Luke and Leia, by adopting their family name. When asked who she is by the old woman on Tatooine, the former Palpatine declares herself Rey Skywalker, and she becomes a new part of the family.
Because Rey ISN'T the daughter of Luke Skywalker. Rey is the offspring of a failed Palpatine clone (who's the “son” of the Emperor) and his wife. You'll have to watch the Rise of Skywalker.
Rey is Han Solo's daughter. But she is not Leia Organa's daughter--and therefore is not a Skywalker. Leia and Han were estranged when she began training with Luke.
The Rise of Skywalker revealed that Kylo Ren and Rey were two halves of a "dyad" in the Force, which Terrio alternatively described as "sort of soulmate[s] in the Force" and "twins of fate, twins of destiny." Their relationship was also described as a romance by both J.J.
The offspring of Darth Sidious' cloned son, Rey inherited her grandfather's power in the Force. Born on the planet Hyperkarn in 15 ABY, Rey was the daughter of a man named Dathan and woman named Miramir, but their names were later lost to history.
Following Palpatine's final defeat and her own resurrection, Rey adopts the name Rey Skywalker to honor her mentors and their family legacy and renounce her lineage. As the last remaining Jedi, she makes it her mission to rebuild the Jedi Order.
In the 2015 film Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, it is revealed that Han had a son named Ben with Leia. The family breaks apart following Ben's descent into the dark side as Kylo Ren, with Leia and Han separating. Luke is not revealed to have any children.
But whoever Rey ends up having for parents, fans can be sure of one thing: Han Solo isn't her father. From a certain point of view, the filmmakers only have the Star Wars films to blame for the emphasis on Rey's secret parents.
In The Art of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, art director Rick Carter expressed his opinion that Rey was the one who fulfilled the prophecy rather than Anakin, stating that while that one would be a Skywalker, it didn't necessarily need to be one by blood.
Zayne showed talent in the Force, as many expected, being Rey's son, but the boy was never trained by his mother. Instead, Rey kept her life as a Jedi Master and as a mother separate from her son, reasons being unknown to anyone for close to twenty years.
Do Rey and Kylo have kids? She does not have a baby bump, her hand never goes to her stomach to indicate she's carrying a child, and there wasn't exactly any time for her to have conceived a child with anyone in the course of the film, including Kylo Ren/Ben Solo.
But a new tie-in novel, Shadow of the Sith by Adam Christopher, finally fixes this. Rey's parents are none other than Dathan and Miramir. No, that's not a typo. Her dad's name is Dathan, which is at least slightly better than Sheev Palpatine.
Rey's father was a genetic clone of the Emperor himself. Her mother was the woman he loved on Jakku before hiding Rey away from the Empires agents. This reveal, too, was a shock to fans who were largely not expecting any more information on the subject as it had been put to rest in the previous film.
Rey is Anakin's half sister, and Palpatines relations to Rey through the force. Rey is a genetic experiment/force experiment of immaculate conception orchestrated by palpatine. So Rey is Palpatines daughter or grand daughter, in a metaphorical sense. The same way Anakin is Palpatines son through the force.
Many of the Expanded Universe stories take place after or in between the events of the movies, and follow the main characters as they grow and start families. Han Solo marries Princess Leia and they have three children: twins named Jacen and Jaina, and a younger son named Anakin.
At the end of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones, Anakin and Padme are secretly married.
Princess Leia Organa was one of the greatest leaders of the Rebel Alliance, fearless on the battlefield and dedicated to ending the Empire's tyranny. Daughter of Padmé Amidala and Anakin Skywalker, sister of Luke Skywalker, and with a soft spot for scoundrels, Leia ranked among the galaxy's great heroes.
He gave it to Luke Skywalker, who lost it when Darth Vader struck off his son's hand in Cloud City. The lightsaber then became part of Maz Kanata's collection of Jedi curios, where it called to the scavenger Rey. She wielded it in defeating Kylo Ren, then brought it to Ahch-To and offered it back to Luke.
A crystal embodies the Jedi as the heart of the lightsaber, and pure kyber has no color until it's bonded to the Force user. This process likely resulted in Rey Skywalker's lightsaber being yellow.
But if Palpatine essentially fathered Anakin through the Force, the Emperor would be the great-grandfather of Kylo Ren and the grandfather of Rey, making the pair first cousins once removed.
The revelation that Rey was originally meant to be Obi-Wan's daughter may have surprised many fans, especially after the reveal that she was ultimately a Palpatine. However, the lack of cohesive planning in the sequel trilogy left many unanswered questions and disappointed fans on both sides of the debate.
The Last Jedi took the stance that Rey's parents were nobody, and while this may have been true from a certain point of view, The Rise of Skywalker gave us the true answer to Rey's parentage. In the film, we learned that Rey was a Palpatine, and her father was a clone of the infamous Sith Lord.
Rey is a gender-neutral name deriving from Spanish origins.
